The Fashion Bomb News Breakdown: Kimye’s Vogue Cover Didn’t Sell as Expected, Angelina Jolie Covers ELLE, And MAC Cosmetics to Release Marge Simpson-Themed Collection
By The Fashion Bomb Staff

• Last month, Kim and Kanye West’s Vogue cover was projected to sell at least 300,000 to 400,000 copies, beating last year’s highly successful Beyoncé (355,000) and Michelle Obama (269,000) issues. But now, it looks like Kimye didn’t quite hit those numbers. Mag Net Data, a company that scans data from wholesalers covering 98 percent of the market, says the cover most likely sold closer to 250,000 copies. (Page Six)

Marc Jacobs is expanding its fragrance options with the launch of another Daisy fragrance called Daisy Dream. The fragrance will launch in July, as will the new perfume TV ads, directed by Sofia Coppola. The print campaign was shot by long time Jacobs collaborator Juergen Teller. (WWD)

• A Saint Laurent-clad Angelina Jolie covers this month’s ELLE, photographed in black and white by none other than Hedi Slimane. (Elle)

MAC cosmetics will launch a collection this September inspired by TV sitcom cartoon mom Marge Simpson. The collection will celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Simpsons, and while we don’t know the details on what to expect, I think it’s safe to say it will involve a lot of bright colors. Jennifer Lawrence is this month’s cover girl for Marie Claire. Thoughts on the shot? (Fashion Bomb Inbox)

Ha! Close enough to the (300,000) goal though. But that is too funny… Probably didn’t reach it because of overexposure. So many talked about it, that you felt like you’d already seen the issue before it even came out. #justmy2cents

Excited about the MAC products though.

  2. BMW says:

Probably because folks really don’t like them like that and you could look at the entire spread online. I can’t wait for the Simpson MAC line.

  3. Honeybrown says:

Ditto! I figured the cover wouldn’t sell that much. What happened to Kim being more influential that our Flotus Kanye?? Yea make no sense.

  4. taff says:

i am shocked they sold that much, lol. i thought it would be much lower than that.

  5. yonaton says:

tbh. those numbers are still great! people are not buying magazines or albums like that because of the web. i agree with the above person who said that we felt like we saw the spread countless times, so what was the point of buying it. people’s celebrity is a double edged sword because when you are so popular, people know your every move instantly. and try to get it ASAP, even before release date.

  6. Noirre says:

I love Marc Jacobs’ perfume bottles. I want his Honey perfume.

  7. Melissia says:

Those Vogue numbers are hilarious, the way Kanye went on about Kim being better than Michelle. I think its wonderful that the highest selling issues of Vogue are two black women. That “seen the spread” is no excuse. God knows everyone saw Beyonce’s and she still outsold everyone.

  8. Marsha says:

Jennifer Lawrence’s cover is interesting. I wouldn’t have known it was her, if not for the caption!

  9. Islandgirl says:

Not sure if any of you remember but a few weeks back, Kim and her sisters were seen purchasing a ton of her vogue cover, now I see why. She was trying to jump those numbers up. I don’t hate the Kardashians its just too much of them all the time.

  10. Jay says:

Kim looks as lifeless in the photos as she did in her sextape.

  11. Ahot says:

Now, the Jolie move is how bosses OWN it. That multiple covers deal she made with Elle is GENIUS. Waiting for copycats in 1… 2… 3.

  12. Lola Reggy says:

I am bored with Kimye, I guess I am not the only one. Self-proclaimed celebs!!

  15. Titi says:

Other reports claim they sold close to double that amount. Page six is so messy
