This past Sunday, I was on another panel!
I spoke about brand building at Mimi J and Jeremy Dell’s Beat and Snatched Makeup Class, and shared the stage with celebrity makeup artists Ashunta Sheriff, Merrell Hollis, and Brandy Gomez-Duplessis:
Though you always know ‘who’s who’ in the industry, it’s rare that you get a chance to hear their back story. Every single person on the panel was immensely inspiring. A few take aways for those who want to pursue an entrepreneurial route: step out on faith, sacrifice, and do the work!
I brought Karl Pierre to take pictures of the fab people in the room.
Check it out:
Makeup artist Jeremy Dell kept his look neutral yet fashion forward in black and white tones.
The day’s co-coordinator and Atlanta based makeup artist Mimi J moderated the panel, and looked adorable in a pink dress and turquoise heels.
Ashunta Sheriff is the bomb! As Alicia Keys’s makeup artist for 10 years, she knows everything about beauty, and actually come out with her own product: a dual foundation stick available on QVC (you should try it out!). At any rate, she looked absolutely radiant in a red wrap dress and matching red shoes.
Merrell Hollis is also someone to know (we interviewed him for our Breaking into Fashion series)! The industry veteran is Wendy Williams’s in house makeup artist, and artistic director of Black Opal cosmetics. He looked fab in a camo top and leather pants.
This young CPA wants to break into beauty, so attended to get some advice. Her dotted pants, two toned lace ups, and blue patterned cardigan came together for a fun look.
Janelle Langford helped organize the event, and looked casually chic in camo pants, yellow fringed sandals, and a denim jacket.
And lastly, Fashion Bomb reader Christina Bellevue came all the way down from Toronto to meet little old me! She looked pretty in a pink blazer and an Eiffel Tower printed tee.
As for me, I kept it casual for Sunday in a Givenchy American Dream tank, Rag & Bone jeans, and Melody Ehsani x Reebok sneakers:

In the meantime, thoughts on Real Style from Mimi J and Jeremy Dell’s makeup class + panel?
