The Fashion Bomb News Breakdown: Naomi Campbell Thinks Kimye’s Vogue Cover is Hilarious, The Surprising Twist in Dolce & Gabbana’s Appeals Case, and L’Wren Scott’s Funeral Attended by Family, Loved Ones

SHADE • Possibly the greatest reaction to Kim & Kanye‘s Vogue cover comes from Naomi Campbell. When asked for her thoughts during an interview on Australia’s The Morning Show, the legendary supermodel replied, “I do not want to comment on that,” before breaking into a fit of the shadiest laughter the world’s ever heard. I guess there’s someone who doesn’t want to talk about #theworldsmosttalkedaboutcouple.

“I’m a fashion model,” she continued, “I’ve been working for 28 years and when you get a Vogue cover, it’s a build in your career, it’s a stepping stone to achieve that.” When her interviewer, hostess Kylie Gillie, pressed the issue, asking if she thought the couple didn’t deserve the honor, Naomi quickly diverted. “I’m being politically correct. That’s Anna Wintour’s choice to put them on the cover of her magazine, who’s to question it?” Oooh, gurl! Kanye, your move! (YouTube)

• Haven’t heard enough talk about Kimye’s Vogue cover? Of course not! Kimmy dished a little more about the now-infamous shoot last night on Late Night With Seth Meyers, answering all our burning questions about the spread. Here’s what we found out:

— Her sisters didn’t even know it was going down.
Hamish Bowles and Grace Coddington had to wear disguises in order to keep the shoot under wraps.
— She had a “top secret” meeting with Sarah Burton in London to get fitted for that feathery Alexander McQueen dress she’s wearing in the spread.
North West peed on Kanye during one of the shots. “He was trying to tell me and I couldn’t really hear him,” she said. “I had to get up and clean her off, clean him off. It’s a good memory.”
— Kim didn’t know she was going to make the cover.

domenico-dolce-stefano-gabbana- • The Dolce& Gabbana tax evasion case has taken an unexpected turn in appeals. Last June, the pair was sentenced to a year and eight months in prison plus legal fees, along with their accountant Luciano Patelli. Now, the prosecutor in their appeals hearings,  Gaetano Santamaria is calling the original case “groundless,” and is pushingfor the acquittal of Dolce & Gabbana. According to Santamaria, “creative minds” like theirs are “totally taken by their models, their fabrics and events… I just don’t see them dealing with bills and schemes to cut their tax rate,” adding that the act of selling their label to Luxembourg-based company Gado Srl wasn’t illegal. “As per the Cassazione [Italy’s equivalent of the Supreme Court] and the European Community, there is no regulation that forbids such a restructuring, nor the choice of a country, according to the free circulation of capitals in the market. These are sacred principles.” He continued, “They choose the Bourse in Luxembourg because it is the most vivacious in Europe, because its fiscal legislation attracts capitals, it has an efficient public administration and, yes, it offers fiscal benefits but it is legitimate to optimize them.” He asserted that it can’t be proven that the sale of Dolce &Gabbana to Gado was executed in order to avoid taxes. “When I heard that they [the designers] had been condemned to a year and a half, I thought, ‘Wow, they must have really done something serious.’”, Santamaria said. “But then I realized that they did not actually manage the company, they signed the deals because they were the owners, but never actively intervened.” (WWD)

Michelle Obama Black Nail Polish
• Kiehl’s is releasing a new nail lacquer this summer, and the color is decidedly un-summery. You won’t find any neons or corals here: the new shade is a glossy black, and the proceeds will benefit AmfAR. The color is inspired by Kiehls’ annual LifeRide motorcycle trip, which raises money for the charity, and HIV awareness. The polish will set you back $15-$18 bucks, and will be available in late July. (WWD)

L'Wren Scott • L’Wren Scott‘s funeral was held yesterday in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Forever Funeral Home, attended by Scott’s close family and friends. Scott’s people released a statement today detailing the funeral proceedings, whose guests included Mick and Georgia May Jagger, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Bryan Adams, and more. “The service with blessings and prayers led by Reverend Ed Bacon (All Saints Church in Pasadena, California) included memories and words of tribute from Mick Jagger, her brother, Randy Bambrough, Justinian Kfoury, Ira M. Hammons-Glass and Adam Glassman,” the statement reads. “Poems were shared by Jagger’s daughter Karis, as well as Ellen Barkin. Mick’s daughter Jade read Psalm 139, and his grandchildren, Mazie and Zak, read Psalm 23. Randy’s daughter, Hannah, read Shakespeare Sonnet 18.” May she rest in peace. (Vogue UK)
