Jourdan Dunn recently spoke on fashion’s ridiculous tokenism problem to Miss Vogue, questioning why designers are always given a pat on the back for putting a single black girl in their shows to walk in majority-white casts. Fellow member of the Yoncé tribe Chanel Iman weighed in on the issue to The Edittalking about how black models like herself, Jourdan, and Joan Smalls are often pitted against each other for jobs: “All three of us models are very successful in our careers, but because in the fashion industry ‘there’s only one black girl allowed’, they’ve made us compete to be that one girl,” she said, adding how happy she was that the Beyoncé gig afforded all three of them some time in the spotlight. “Beyoncé allowed us to show the world that we don’t have to fight against each other. She gave us the chance to see that we are far more powerful together.” (The Edit)

Kate Upton‘s snagged herself an endorsement gig with Bobbi Brown, replacing Katie Holmes as the brand’s celebrity spokesperson. “Besides being strong and confident, she is really smart. She knows exactly who she is and who her brand is,” Bobbi Brown said of Upton. “She told me she called her mom and her sister right away when she found out about [becoming the face of the brand]. She was so excited about doing it! That’s what I love about Kate: She’s a real girl. And she’s not a waif-y supermodel. She was an athlete, so she’s comfortable with her body. She’s really kind of every woman.” The campaign is set to debut at Bobbi Brown makeup counters in July, with the ads appearing in magazines starting September. (Vogue, Fashionista)

• Reps for L’Wren Scott are coming out to deny claims that the late designer had planned to shutter her brand, and that she was deeply in debt. They maintain that Scott was looking to instead restructure her label–not close it altogether: The figures quoted in the media regarding the financial status of LS Fashion Limited are not only highly misleading and inaccurate but also extremely hurtful and disrespectful to the memory of L’Wren Scott,” her people said in a statement. “Her business overall was only seven years old and although some areas of the business had not yet reached their potential other parts of her business were proving successful.”  (WWD)

Stella McCartney Maleificent

• Stella McCartney is teaming with Disney and Angelina Jolie for a capsule collection of kid’s clothes inspired by Maleificent, in theaters May 30th. The eight-piece collection has t-shirts, sneakers, sandals, and of course–princess dresses for boys and girls aged four to 14. “I’ve always been a huge fan of Disney growing up, as was my mother, and I grew up watching all the films like most kids did,” McCartney told WWD. “When the opportunity presented itself and I was invited by Angelina Jolie to visit the film set, I jumped at the chance.”  The collection (dropping at the end of April) is a little pricey. Expect to shill out between $75 and $185 for any of these pieces. 10% of the proceeds will go to SOS Children’s Villages, which gives homes to needy kids. (WWD)

Twitter Reacts to the 65 Off Ralph Lauren Code Leak.
• Twitter was set ablaze earlier this week when user @dallas_penn Instagrammed a 65% off discount code, exclusively for Ralph Lauren employees. The offer quickly went viral, and folks (naturally) got their shop on in droves. Black Twitter weighed in, providing hilarious commentary as usual, the best of which Complex rounded up. “Son. Last night was like reparations. Had me singing old negro spirituals. Cuz 65%,” Producer Just Blaze tweeted. “I bought 5 leathers, 10 shoes, 4 sneakers, 4 jackets, 12 polos, 2 sweaters, 3 hoodies, 2 backpacks, 1 duffel, 4 dog sweaters, and an object” The best part of this whole thing? Ralph Lauren honored the discount in spite of the leak. Read more hilarious commentary from the black twitterati at Complex. (Complex)
