The Packing List: Weekend Trips
Ah it’s the season for travel, and that means many of us will be heading out on weekend trips. Whether you’re going to a conference for work, taking advantage of the three day weekend for a trip, or planning a getaway for a little R&R, there’s one thing they all have in common, the need to pack. Having some trouble getting started?
Check out our guide to packing for your next weekend trip:
Choose Your Bags Carefully
First things first, you want to make sure that you’re choosing the right bag to fit your trip. If you’re just going away for a couple of days, you really don’t need to bring your entire wardrobe. Nix the checked bag and stick with something you can easily stow in an overhead compartment. You’ll save a few dollars and a ton of time at the airport.
You should aim for a suitcase that won’t be too cumbersome for walking around when you get to your destination, so consider factors like its weight and size, and whether it has wheel or not. If you must bring a second bag, try to limit it to a backpack or briefcase that you can easily carry in addition to your suitcase.
Go for Versatility
When you’re trying to limit your luggage to a reasonable size, you’re inevitably going to start thinking of a million possibilities. Well, what if the weather drops at night? What if we decide to go swimming? What if I spill on this shirt? You just need to accept that you’re not going to be perfectly prepared for everything, but rest assured, you’ll rarely be in a place in which you won’t have access to a fresh shirt if you need to pick one up. For the clothes you decide to bring, assuage your anxieties by picking items that are versatile.
A nice blazer can be dressed up for a nice dinner, worn to a meeting, or dressed down for a night on the town. Once you have the staple pieces chosen, the way to change your outfit is to switch up the details. Adding a fun element like vibrant VK Nagrani men’s designer socks, they won’t take up space in your suitcase, and they add a noticeable pop of color to what you’re wearing.
Bring a Good Pair of Shoes
Similarly to your blazer, the shoes you decide to bring are important. These really depend on the type of trip you’re planning on taking. If you’re heading to the beach, your most important footwear is going to be a pair of sandals. If you’re going on a hiking trip, a comfortable pair of boots is your best friend, and if you’re traveling for business, your black or brown leather shoes are the only thing you’ll need. In most cases, if you find the right pair of shoes, you should be able to get away with only bringing one pair for the weekend, but if you’re planning on mixing things up with some different activities, bringing a second pair won’t be the end of the world.
Always Leave Room
Perhaps the one thing that packers forget about most often is to leave room in their luggage. Wherever you’re headed, you’re likely to pick up a thing or two over the course of the weekend. Leaving some extra room in your bag just gives you the freedom to pick out a few items and do some shopping while you’re away. Because it would be a shame to leave behind that perfect new jacket just because you didn’t have space in your suitcase.
So there you have it, your guide to packing well for your next weekend trip. Happy travels!
