Retail giant Topshop has an uncanny ability to not only set trends with its Unique label, but to also quickly and effectively capture all of the rest with its lower-priced mainline. For the former’s Fall collection, high-fashion charisma was on the menu with all the markers and guides of luxury that we’ve come to know, love, and embrace with plush outerwear, cozy knits, and refined silhouettes: though layered in a modern and fun way that only a Topshop woman could pull off.
As is requisite for the season, outerwear was energetic and appealing in elegant angora blue wool with oversized shawl collars, sporty chic cropped puffer jackets, pony hair-panel leather moto styles, and two-tone fur. The puffers also came in pebbled leather with contrast nylon drawstring collars: studies in athletic-inspired, functional gear.
Winter classic textures, fur and shearling, were spun in fun ways from the hood of a simple grey hoodie to a roomy shoulder bag. the The warm fabrications made quite the statement with pony hair-detailed separates, sheer embroidered skirts, printed trousers, and menswear-inspired pointed-toe loafers.
Beyoncé has undoubtedly become one of the brand’s biggest fans and I look forward to seeing how she sports the collection’s dressier ensembles like a pony hair suspender jumper and the slew of sheer, flower-embroidered designs: all the better to go along with her new fun-loving, risqué image. She’s gravitated toward the less-expensive mainline pieces thus far, but I can definitely see her upping the ante.
