Few do a ladylike dress better than Tracy Reese: ask First Lady Michelle Obama. For her Fall 2014 collection, Reese decided to spin her signature on its head, giving us all new ways to wear a frock. Whether with a fringe scarf and leather booties or with shimmering flats, the TR woman will be well-versed in layering and versatility come autumn.
FLOTUS would definitely approve of some of the dresses at hand including a floral print number with a flare skirt and embellished neckline, a gold shimmering confection with matching peep-toe booties, a rosette-detailed illusion design, and a feather hem number.
Naturally it wasn’t all about frocks, as Reese presented loads of separates for her fans to buy into. Knits were plentiful in eye-catching hues and combinations like mustard, deep red, and colorblock. They packed a punch when paired with the collection’s gold metallic boots, forest print skirts, patterned blouses, and silky trousers.
I love a good pair of trousers, thus the panted looks in the lineup were appreciated: especially those mimicking an exotic skin for a taste of casual luxury. The pieces were quite chic when accompanied by a printed cape and shimmering party-ready tops. There were a few capelets that missed the mark, reading Little Red Riding Hood in a collection that was too far steeped in modernity.
The outerwear were among my favorite pieces in the offerings. From geometric print double-breasted coats to cozy paint-splattered pieces, there’s virtually no way the Tracy Reese woman will not be warm yet simultaneously stylish come Fall.
