Belgian-born style icon Diane Von Furstenberg is celebrating her 40th year in business this year: an extravaganza that kicked off last month with her Journey of a Dress retrospective. She has singlehandedly made the wrap dress a wardrobe must-have for every modern day woman and she honored the timeless silhouette in her Fall 2014 collection, aptly titled “Bohemian Wrapsody”.
The wrap dress was in full force from the first look, with supermodel Karen Elson gliding down the runway in a black and gold printed version. The patterns continued on cropped jackets, silky trousers, and seasonally-appropriate sweater dresses. Some of the most poignant looks included swing frocks layered over pants and asymmetric silky hems languidly falling from beneath knit numbers, for a luxe yet relaxed take on chic dressing.
Outerwear was confident and powerful with collarless coats mimicking exotic skin, abstract print chubby furs, knee-length multicolored designs, and vests.
Florals skewed more Spring than Fall, but the DVF woman is fun and fearless so why not wear the print year-round?
Celeb fans including Chrissy Teigen, LaLa Anthony, and Naya Rivera will certainly gravitate toward the collection’s slew of gold and embellished looks. A wrap romper on Jourdan Dunn will be killer on the Hollywood starlet with the best legs, while lace halter numbers will look darling with pinup girl waves and strappy sandals.
Which looks from DVF’s latest collection wowed you?
