I actually had the chance to attend a press pre-sale a few days ago, so was able to try on a few pieces myself.

What I can tell you: sizes go up to a 16 or XL (fabulous for us curvy girls). I purchased some of the items below:

I’m normally a size 10 in skirts/pants, but had to take a size 12 in the skirts. I’d assume that with my big bust, I’d be an XL in tops, but I’m actually just a large. So I guess use that scale accordingly. Skirts run small, tops are true to size. If you’re having any doubts, just go the size up and get it tailored (if you really love it!). And prices are ridiculously good at around $30 per item. Quality is what you’d expect for the price, though the jackets are gorgeous. Can’t wait to wear ‘em and show you how they rock!

Went to Target this morning and agree on sizing. Skirts run small, the rest was pretty true to size. My local store wasn’t carrying the jackets and the red colorway on some items! So disappointed.

  2. Natasha says:

Well, I’m not a Pilotto fan perhaps. I’m scared of prints, in general :) The coated canvas totes are nice though.

  3. There are pieces at Target online as well.

sent my mom to get the moto jacket in her city. got the shorts online. went to store and tried some stuff on. tops true to size. i agree, that if you have hips/butt, you may need to go up a size in bottoms. all the other prints were too much color for me

  5. tt says:

so happy i got everything i wanted online @ 3:30 am. it’s too cold to get out of bed this morning to actually go to target especially when i know everything will not be in the store.

  6. erica says:

I agree with the sizing! I was really happy with the quality!

Most of the things weren’t in my local Target. Each one got a few pieces in my city. I wouldn’t rush out to get it. I would say that the early response has been quite tepid. I was at my local target promptly at 8AM and to my surprise, no line outside. When I got there, just one other lady was browsing the collection and she hated everything they had. I tried on about 6 things, but I didn’t really feel anything worked. For example, I thought the sweater pictured here would be great, but the reality of the color/pattern blocking and the high cut of the collar made me think of Star Trek uniforms (Next Generation of course.) I think on the runway and in small doses his patterns are great. But I think this is a little bit bold and garish in a bad way and it is unpalatable for the Target shopper. I stayed in the store for about 2 hours (just soaking in the ambiance of Target because I hadn’t been since that security breach) and I didn’t see anyone buy anything from the collection. With the Jason Wu and Philip Lim collections, the racks were stripped in an hour and I saw people in the streets wearing the items immediately.

If you are shopping online, some advice about the fit. All the dresses and skirts hit mid thigh or above. None of them are work/church appropriate. The great thing though, skirts and dresses do have liners in them, which actually a step up as far as Target quality goes. All target clothes tend to run small and this collection follows that trend. Get the next size up on tops and if you have a tummy, butt or both go 2 sizes up on bottoms. You can try one size, but the bottoms do not contain lycra and do not stretch so you are risking muffin top with a too tight fit. Good luck shopping everybody, and may the odds be forever in your favor. haha!

Unfortunately, I can’t get any of the skirts and dresses because they are, like another commenter said, not modest enough. A problem for me as I only wear modest clothing and I’m only looking for dresses and skirts right now. Also, they just seem really overdone. The prints make my eyes go cross-eyed.

SERIOUS QUESTION: Where would you wear some of these pieces?

  9. missy says:

i ended up getting the color splash strapless full dress and the navy/white colorblock blazer everything else was too busy for me, and not long enough. im very tall. thats why i love love love theory brand there pants fit like a superstar, anyways yes i went to my local target and they had nothing that i liked, so hi high tailed it to another and just in time to get my size 4 dress and size small blazer. so i was happy, they can have everything else, also ladies loehmann’s is going out of business. 80% off most items. i scored a pair of nice white theory trouser pants for less than 60 bucks.

  10. Taj says:

Hi @Katie I purchased the outfit that Diane Kruger wore in a previous post here on Fashionbomb and I will wear it to a Basquiat exhibit in NYC. I think the other prints are too much but I really was drawn to one outfit.

I logged online at 330am EST to Target’s website and it wasn’t functional. I went to my local Target around 430pm to find the selection somewhat picked over but the quality was pretty disappointing #shrugs

  12. DeeFresh says:

nabbed the sweatshirt..would look fun over cutout booties and black skinnies. Glad I finally apiece of the collections :)

  13. Frost says:

I went crazy over this collection because I love prints. I bought…. I think about 15 pieces. *blush* I was up at 4:00, right when the pieces were getting on Target and Net-A-Porter. NAP had everything available but I hesitated to buy from there because I hate returning to online stores. I did make sure to buy pieces from Target.com that I knew would sell out quickly online like the moto jacket and red/gray skirt. I wanted to go to the store to see how it looked in person, but I overslept and didn’t leave the hiuse until 10. Luckily, one of the FOUR Targets I went to had a bunch of stuff left, and I went crazy.

I bought mostly separates, so I can wear them with a modest pant or top and then it won’t look too busy. If I wanted to be more fun and vibrant, I can pair two separates together to look like a dress and I would wear it to a nice lunch or something like that.

This collection definately hurt my wallet. O.o

  14. KITANA says:

Its cold as hell here in Chicago so there was no way I was leaving the house. I jumped online and ordered everything that I liked. Surprisingly most things were in stock. My sister did go and she said that everything that was available online was available in store.

  15. lolani says:

I hauld tail to target for this collection and the quality was poor not like the pics imo. My target still has lots of the collection in stock

  16. Katie says:

    @Taj

Thank you for the response! It makes me feel more confidence that I can actually where something like this somewhere. I guess I’ll look in store to take a look at the clothing.

    Thanks again.

  17. Rosalie says:

I got to Target at 7:50 (they opened at 8). There was a small line. I had to go to church so I didn’t mind getting up an hour earlier. I picked up some fun pieces. The color block blazer and sweatshirt was my favorite. Some of the stuff was not my taste (the pants, bag, and shoes) but I was happy with my purchase. I love the colors and prints. I’m ready for spring!
