Kate Moss makes her debut as contributing fashion editor for Vogue UK with a punky shoot channeling rockstar style, starring Daria Werbowy, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Editor-in-chief Alexandra Shulman talks about how quickly Moss adjusted to her new role in her editor’s letter: “From gathering the initial mood board to talking me through the rail of clothes in the Vogue fashion room and adjusting the accessories on Daria Werbowy, Kate took on the complete role of fashion editor,” she wrote. And what did Kate do to unwind after a long day of shooting? Hit the town, naturally!  “perhaps not every editor takes her model out partying the first night of the shoot,” Shulman mused.  (WWD)

whitenicious what a shame

• Cameroonian pop singer Dencia made headlines last month with the release of her dark-spot eliminating cream, Whitenicious. She’s faced quite a blacklash from people who say her product (which sold out almost immediately) promotes self-hatred within the black community. Ebony.com sat down with Dencia to hear her side of the story. Not only does the singer say that most of the people (80% to be exact) buying her product are black Americans, she also makes light of the skin bleaching issue, ignoring its health risks, despite being given medical statistics, and equating lightening skin with relaxing one’s hair. She denies that her product is a skin bleach, noting that the small jars in which the product comes “can’t even go on your whole feet.” Hmm… read the full article over at Ebony, and tell us what you think of Dencia’s defense. Steve Madden x Blonde Salad

Steve Madden has joined forces with The Blonde Salad‘s Chiara Ferragni on a 9-piece limited edition shoe collection, due out February 5th. The range offers everything from peeptoe lace-up booties to sleek slip-ons, all named after various cities around the globe. “This collection is really strong and represents who I am and what I want my style to be,” Ferragni told Glamour.  “It’s something you can wear with jeans, leather trousers, and dresses.” It’s affordable, too. Prices start at $129, and go up to $179. See anything that tickles your fancy? (Glamour)

• You might be seeing more fuller-figured women on the runway than ever during NYFW. Page Six reports that IMG models–the same firm that represents Gisele, Chanel Iman, and Joan Smalls, have added plus-sized models to their NY Fall/Winter 2014 show package. According to a source, IMG is the first firm to present such a mixture for their package. I’m interested to see which shows wind up actually booking plus-sized models. Any guesses? (Page Six)

Cameron Diaz‘s first collection as artistic director at Pour La Victoire is about to be revealed in full this week. But between her  movie shoots and promotional appearances, Diaz says this has been one of the most challenging projects she’s taken on, particularly with the fashion industry’s hectic calendar: “in fashion, you have pre-fall, fall, holiday. You have all these little mini collections that you have to do,” she told WWD “I can’t keep track of it. It’s literally not my language. But I’m trying to learn it. They are teaching me and I’m learning from them, and they are learning from me.”  From what we can see so far, there seem to be a lot of heeled mule-style options. I’m interested to see the line in full! (WWD)

• ELLE‘s Ruthie Friedlander went to work last week dressed in a lace catsuit and bustier à la Beyoncé during last week’s Grammy performance. Yep, you read that right. Find out how people reacted to her risqué getup. (ELLE)

  1. JT says:

I vomited in my mouth when I saw how hideous Dencia is and how she actually thinks she looks cute. She looks like Casper the friendly hooker!!! Some people are so out of touch with reality and have such low self esteem that they will try ANYTHING!!! Beyoncé needs to snatch her up and say girl “it’s yo soul that needs surgery” because you are so ugly on the inside. Michael Jackson looked more normal than this chick. What a white ghoulish creature.

  2. tricia says:

uggg that horible wig. i notice africans wigs or weaves always look like this. so obvious.

  3. Anonymous says:

I love beyonce but let’s not pretend like she didn’t lighten, brighten, hair bleach, tuck, lol and get a rhinoplasty to look more European. Beyonce can’t tell her nothing but I love that song though.

  4. Hmmmm says:

That Elle article is weak. @JT really?
I believe the backlash for Dencia is just because she is black. A lot makeup companies make bleaching creams and give them fancy names. What is real hilarious to me is, why are people upset with her and not with the women who desire to be whitened? Hmmm.. People are just being hypocrites as usual.
