• The Fashion Bomb News Breakdown: ELLE Responds to Mindy Kaling Cover Controversy, More Looks From Sarah Jessica Parker’s Shoe Line, and Manolo Blahnik to Show at NYFW

    •  People have been buzzing about Mindy Kaling’s ELLE magazine cover since its unveiling earlier this week, taking issue with the fact that the self-proclaimed size 8 comedienne’s body is cropped out, unlike her fellow cover stars Allison Williams, Amy Poehler, and Zooey Deschanel, and that it’s in black and white. Kaling, however seems to be cool with the shot, taking to Twitter to say that she loves her cover: “It made me feel glamorous & cool,” she wrote. “And if anyone wants to see more of my body, go on thirteen dates with me.” ELLE‘s also piped up on the matter, releasing the following statement in response: “Mindy looks sexy, beautiful and chic. We think it is a striking and sophisticated cover and are thrilled to celebrate her in our Women in TV Issue.” There you have it, folks! (ELLE)

    • Duckie Brown will debut a womenswear collection during their catwalk presentation at Fashion Week next month. The 50-piece range will be the first full women’s offering from Daniel Silver and Steven Cox, who have put out a small selection of knits for ladies in the past. Silver says the collection will have a downtown feel, and eveningwear focus. I will be interested to see what they put out. When menswear designers make the switch to women’s clothing, it usually renders pretty good results. Just ask Raf Simons and Thom Browne. (WWD)

Sarah Jessica Parker Shoes in Glamour

    • It’s gotta be our lucky week. We’ve got another look at Sarah Jessica Parker‘s hotly anticipated shoe line, courtesy of Harper’s Bazaar and Glamour magazines. Here’s what we know: in addition to a peachy T-strap pump known as the “Carrie” (naturally named after Parker’s Sex and The City character,) there are a pair of open-toed laceup booties dubbed the “Alison,” a satiny pointed toe option, the “Silvia”, topped with a bow at the ankle strap. You’ll also find a girly navy sandal known as the “Pola”,  and a flower-embellished strappy number, the “Etta.” If you prefer something that’ll be easier on your feet, there is the charming “Billie” ballet flat in a bright turquoise hue. The collection will hit Nordstrom shelves Februrary 28th. See anything you might want to pick up? (Telegraph)

    • Diane Von Furstenberg is one of the designers ditching Lincoln Center this upcoming Fashion Week for greener, less congested pastures to show her Fall 2014 collection. But her reasons for leaving aren’t what we initially thought. Turns out the designer isn’t moving her show because of the hub’s notoriously overstimulating atmosphere: “My decision is purely because of the anniversary year,” she told The New York Times. “I want to do something special. I’m excited that they’re trying to get it together at Lincoln Center.” It is the 40th anniversary of DVF’s iconic wrap dress, so a little celebration seems right. But dont worry–Von Furstenberg may be back at the tents next season. “I am the president of the CFDA, but I also have a brand to watch,” she said. (NYT)

    • Manolo Blahnik has been added to the New York Fashion Week lineup. The much lusted after label will present their Fall 2014 offering at a Chelsea gallery. (WWD)
