The Fashion Bomb News Breakdown: The Kardashians Launch Luxury Eyewear Collection, Cathy Horyn Leaving The New York Times, and Kurt Geiger Debuts Handbag Range
By The Fashion Bomb Staff
Kardashian Kollection Eyewear
• The Kardashians are branching out into eyewear, releasing a limited edition line of aviator sunglasses. The five-piece range of gold-plated sunnies come in two sizes each, petite and oversized, and are embossed with the sisters’ double K logo. You can choose between 5 different colored lenses, and each pair comes in a gold carrying case. How much will these fancy shades set you back? Oh, about $250 bucks! If you’re willing to shill out that much, the sunglasses are available at the Kardasian Eyewear website. (Daily Mail)

• The folks at LVMH are eyeing a public offering for Marc Jacobs‘s label. The luxury conglomerate CEO Bernard Arnault is looking to duplicate the success of Michael Kors‘s brand, which has a market capitalization of $15 billion since going public in 2011. “If we could do something along those lines, or even half, everyone will be happy,” Arnault told WWD.  (WWD)

cathy-horyn

• After her 15-year reign as the newspaper’s chief fashion critic, Cathy Horyn is leaving her post at the New York Times. As confirmed today by executive editor Jill Abramson and Styles editor Stuart Emmrich, Horyn is leaving to spend more time with her partner, Liz Claiborne co-founder Art Otenberg, who is having health problems. Abramson and Stuart wrote a letter to Times staff, detailing the terms of Horyn’s  departure. For those who will miss the decorated critic (self included), fear not! She is currently working on a book with Rizzoli chronicling the Times‘s fashion coverage from the 1850s ’til today. Sounds like it will definitely be a must-have addition to any fashion enthusiast’s library. (Fashionista)

Kurt Geiger B-Series Clutches
• We already adore Kurt Geiger‘s footwear, and now the Britton is offering more to love, unveiling its first handbag range, B-Series. You will find carryalls of all stripes: sleek envelope clutches, tassled buckle bags, structured satchels, and petite crossbodys, all with gold metal bar detailing. I see about four pieces I already need! You can peep the whole collection at Vogue UK, and shop online at Kurt Geiger’s website. (Vogue UK)

• More ways Michelle Obama is awesome? She’s a Scandal fan! The FLOTUS generally does not have time to binge-watch TV, but she did start tuning in during a recent vacation: “We went to Hawaii so I had a long flight — so I watched all the seasons,” She told Ryan Seacrest. “I love Kerry Washington. She is amazing, so it makes the show fun.” Seriously, guys: best. FLOTUS. Ever! (The Cut)

American Apparel 62 Year Old Model
American Apparel‘s newest lingerie model is 62-year-old Jacky O’Shaughnessy, a silver-haired beaut whose body looks better than many women half her age. The retailer debuted her photo on Instagram, with the caption “Sexy has no expiration date.” Indeed. Apparently, scouts at American Apparel spotted her in an NYC restaurant and was so taken with her, they asked her to appear in their ads. The rest is history! What do you think ? (Styleite)

The ad of the woman is shocking, I can dig it. Woman becoming older is like a BIG HELL NO! I like to believe with age comes wisdom and beauty. And I think Jacky does a great job showing that.

  8. Claire says:

@Anonymous for the 1,689,098 time, we are NOT sponsored by the Kardashians! Really! Wish we were. The girls just know how to stay in the press.

  9. Anonymous says:

Hmmmm wonder who’s keeping them in the press.

@anonymous, people like you who comment on Kardashian posts!!!!

  11. Bliss says:

I respect the Kardashians hustle but they’re name isn’t synonymous with “Designer” for me. I’f I’m gonna dish out that much on glasses I’m gonna get some Kate Spade, Carrera, Elizabeth and James, or D&Gs. (well not them since the whole black face thing), shoot maybe even Versaces. But on a pair of Kardashians?? No thank you, I’d use that money on a real designer and not some wanna be fashion guru. And that’s All. The. Way. Re-yal! #nene voice #plonk! LOL

  12. Tasha says:

$250 for Kardashian sunglasses … Chile I can go to Saks off 5th & get two real designer glasses for that.

    Love AA new ad. Beautiful.
