The Fashion Bomb News Breakdown: Chanel ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ for Native American Runway Headdress, Kim Kardashian Wants to Wear Kate Middleton-Style Wedding Dress, and CFDA Teams With Fashion Calendar for NYFW Revamp
By The Fashion Bomb Staff

• Folks have been getting up in arms over the Native American-inspired headdress  Chanel showed during their Metiers d’Art show in Dallas last week. The collection had a Cowboys and Indians theme, and people took issue over the inclusion of the Native American headdress into a few looks. Chanel has offered an explanation as to why they decided to add this sprinkling of offense to their show. “The Chanel Paris-Dallas Metiers d’Art 2013/2014 collection is a celebration of the beauty of Texas. Native Americans are an integral part of Texas’ rich history and culture and the feather headdress, a symbol of strength and bravery, is one of the most visually stunning examples of creativity and craftsmanship,” a Chanel spokesperson told Fashionista“We deeply apologize if it has been misinterpreted or is seen as offensive as it was really meant to be a tribute to the beauty of craftsmanship.” In sum, Chanel is sorry that you don’t understand their “tribute,” not that they had models parading in headdresses. Victoria’s Secret made this same misstep last year, putting Karlie Kloss on their runway in feathered headpiece– to the chagrin of many Native American groups and people who like to respect other cultures. I guess the people at Chanel simply missed that whole controversy–or weren’t all that concerned. I’m guessing the latter. (Fashionista)

SNL captures what it’s like to shop at H&M with this hilarious music video. From the tight-fitting clothes of sometimes questionable quality; “The prices on the clothes are great/Put ‘em in the wash and HUH they’ll disintegrate,” to the messy store “Where the shirts? On the floor/ Where the suits? On the floor,” this short is rather spot-on. Check it out! (Hulu)

The CFDA and Fashion Calendar will  also work together on the September shows next year, as well as pre-fall and resort seasons. (WWD)

• They might not be having their wedding at Versailles, but that doesn’t mean Kim Kardashian plans on looking like anything less than royalty when she ties the knot with Kanye West. Rumor has it that the reality star wants a gown similar to the now-iconic Sarah Burton-designed number Duchess Kate wore to wed Prince William“Kim is absolutely obsessed with everything Kate and William do. Kim loves Kate’s style and while she is planning on several gowns for her big day, she wants the one for the ceremony to look something like Kate’s dress,” a source told Grazia. Whatever Kim chooses, I’m sure she’ll look beautiful! (Telegraph)

Anyhow, if you’re eager to learn styling secrets from the woman behind Kim Zolciak and Fantasia Barrino‘s looks, you can buy tickets here. (Fashion Bomb Inbox)

I like the fact that the posts keep coming up about the revamping of fashion week. Noticed that not too many had much to say. I think it’s a great idea to get it back to its roots. Call it snobbish but it is what it is…a business.
