The year is slowly but surely winding on down, and it’s about that time to start thinking about who killed the fashion game in the past 12 months!
We’re kicking off our annual superlatives with the typical chic categories:
1. Fashionista of the Year
2. Most Fashionable Male of the Year
3. Fashion Bombshell of the Year
4. Fashion Bomber of the Year
5. Most Improved Fashionista
6. Top Trends
7. Designer of the Year
8. Outfit of the Year
9. Model of the Year
The editors of the site obviously have a few people in mind who might fit into those categories….
For Fashionista of the Year, we’re thinking Kelly Rowland, Ciara, Lupita Nyongo’o, Naomie Harris, Solange Knowles, and Nicole Richie:
Most Fashionable Male? We always show love to Kanye West, though Idris Elba, Pharrell, Swizz Beatz, and A$AP Rocky always have an interesting point of view:
Fashion Bombshell of the Day is about to be quite the competition! With that said, Cynthia from New York, Mbu from South Africa, Tsholo from Botwana, Stella from Maryland, and Alicia from NYC stuck in our minds.
As far as Bombers go, Jason from New York was quite stylish, as were Dualleh from the Hague (again), Raymond from the DMV, Darion from LA, and Akil from New York.
As far as trends, we’ll let you take the lead, though white pumps, vinyl/pvc, plaid, and black & white graphic prints are just a few things we’d like to carry over in 2014 (see how all of you wore it–well–in our How do you Wear It Tab).
Designer of the year? There are almost too many to name! Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy stays winning, but this year also shined for Michael Costello, Peter Pilotto, Olivier Rousteing of Balmain, and Mary Katrantzou:
Outfit of the Year will be another toughie! We loved Rihanna in Alaia at the 2013 Grammy’s (and Kelly Rowland showed and proved herself in a Georges Chakra gown). J. Lo sizzled in Zuhair Murad at the 2013 Golden Globes, Kerry Washington slayed in a Giles 2013 gown at the London Premiere of Django Unchained, and Charlize Theron stole the show at the Oscars in a Christian Dior Haute Couture ensemble.
And for Model of the Year, it might be another landslide, though we’re proud of everything Joan Smalls, Jourdan Dunn, Cara Delevingne, and Chanel Iman did this year!
These are just a few preliminary thoughts…we want to hear from you!
