Elie Saab’s designs are always running over with femininity and romance and his recently-debuted runway pieces were no exception. The brand set Spring in a garden, which was a bit cliché for the season, but quite stunning nonetheless. Bursting with lace, embellishment, sheer fabrics, and enough red carpet gowns to dress an entire awards show, the pieces were right in line with the Saab aesthetic: ladylike yet sultry, charming, and overall, downright pretty.
The floral fête kicked off the runway show with rosy looks and flower embroidery to boot. Clearly Mr. Saab is seeing the world through rose-colored glasses for the season.
An angelic air then swept over the collection with all-white ensembles. From long-sleeve lace frocks to coquettish ruffled skirts, these designs will surely catch the eye of a slew of 2014 brides.
Some functional designs were also included in the pure shade including lace-trim short suits, office-appropriate peplum blouses, and roomy wide-leg trousers.
Saab wasn’t finished with color, returning to jewel tones including red and emerald.
The brand took the garden theme quite literally with a bouquet print splattered on flare-hem dresses, long-sleeve jumpsuits, flirty leg-baring frocks, and elegant sheaths. The same floral pattern was then juxtaposed against a black background, channeling a midsummer night’s dream. A column halter gown in the print was one of the prettiest pieces in the offering.
Stylish starlets like Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez, and Kate Hudson have opted for Saab’s designs this year and I foresee them choosing a gown or two from the Spring lineup. The slew of sheer black lace styles were made for the red carpet: with the proper underpinnings of course.
