Ladies love Lanvin…and lamé. Well at least that’s what Alber Elbaz thinks. He showed a heavy dose of the latter for the fashion house’s Spring 2014 collection, showcasing all the glitz and glamour that the brand’s throng of global fans have become accustomed to. The designs were all about indulgence, though not totally bereft of functionality: a juxtaposition that the brand does oh so well.
The looks were high octane from the collection’s inception, brimming with shine and sparkle from a lamé cargo jumpsuit (as you can tell those are in for the season) to a glittering “Dream” graphic artfully doused on an oversize gilt top.
There were no holds barred when it came to the color palette. From the classic combination of black and white to neon leopard, Elbaz went full throttle in the hue department. Just as statement-making as the shades at play were the accessories, boasting the fashion house’s popular heart and star motifs.
The plethora of pant options anchored the collection in reality, even when the different iterations were as glossy as they come.
I’m definitely looking forward to Lanvin lovers like Gwyneth Paltrow, Rihanna, and Kelly Rowland sporting these designs. A copper asymmetric mini dress will look dazzling against bronzed skin while a simple LBD cinched with a structured belt will be a knockout on a curvy fashionista with a sleek chignon.
