Few do classic American sportswear at the level of Michael Kors, and he showed us all why with his Spring 2014 collection. High on functionality and femininity, the looks were soft and charming, while still being razor-sharp. There was a real ease to the pieces, with sporty chic touches.
A white floral print lent a Spring mood to retro-inspired calf-length dresses, high-waist pencil skirts, and bustier crop tops. A similar pattern in larger-scale covered a slew of other sophisticated styles from short-sleeve blazers to roomy shorts.
There was no denying the sultriness oozing from sheer designs. Certainly a lace bra or camisole will need to be layered underneath transparent bodices and see-through pleated skirts, but leave it to Hollywood’s starlets to try the racier runway options.
Kors usually has a number of strong red carpet-ready pieces, but this collection was light in the formal arena. Not sure if fans of the brand including Naya Rivera, Sofia Vergara, and Olivia Munn will opt for the floral print numbers in the offerings, but only time will tell.
What do you think of the latest from Michael Kors?
