With ferocious Latin femmes like Bianca Jagger and Freida Khalo in mind, Rebecca Minkoff showed her offering for Spring 2014 with the help of a certain Electric Lady–that is Janelle Monàe. The singer and her band lent their talents as a live soundtrack for the affair, and had everyone from myself to FROW dwellers Kelly Osbourne and Jamie Chung bopping along.
The clothes matched the vibe of of Ms. Monàe’s upbeat tunes. Latin American motifs were omnipresent, in colorful floral embroidery curling across necklines and in exploded eyelet detailing– the third look included a t-shirt blaring, “Let’s go to Mexico!” in case you missed the theme.
Athleticwear is here to stay! Minkoff added sporty stripes, a sweatshirt you wouldn’t wear to the gym, and touches of mesh.

And get into the footwear– can we say divine? They’re certainly the standouts of this collection, and had several show attendees buzzing. I could see Lala Anthony or Rita Ora styled in any of those gorgeous gladiator sandals!
All in all, a fun collection and an entertaining show. These options seem like crowd pleasers for the young thangs.
