All eyes are on Adam Selman, having been catapulted into fame by Rihanna who had the designer create pieces for her world tour, as well as tapping him for her first River Island collection. His Spring 2014 presentation is full of the sporty chic aesthetic the brand has become known for. With a mix of swimsuits, punchy motifs, and “come hither” lingerie detailing, the assortment is limited, but just enough to satisfy fashion’s throng of “It” girls.
Swimsuits are layered under long trench coats and silky track-inspired jackets: if Fall wasn’t just weeks away, I’d expect to see Rih sporting these looks down some big city sidewalk.
The boudoir-ready ensembles come in the form of a pink and blue satin short suit and dresses with thigh-high slits. The looks can easily be dressed down with sneakers, demonstrating the versatility of the designs.
Doses of print are added with star motifs and stripes. Jeans and a denim jacket in the starry pattern are clearly things we’ve seen before, but fans might go in for the purchase if the price points are right.
Where I think the brand wins here is with the flirty, yet functional styles. A bow bandeau top falls right in line with the crop top trend, while a zip-front playsuit can blend effortlessly into any modern day woman’s wardrobe.
What do you think of Adam Selman’s latest?
