“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” The old and familiar adage rang true at Cushnie et Ochs’ Spring 2014 runway show which was chock full of the form-fitting silhouettes and cutout detailed frocks the design duo has become known for. Though not their most daring assortment, Carly and Michelle did what they do best, giving Hollywood’s “It” girls their entire seasonal wardrobe while still appealing to those who might not have the exquisitely-toned figure or sizable bank account their designs require.
The brand is working to make a name for themselves in swimwear and their signature cutouts fell right in line with what’s hot in the industry. A halter bikini on Lais Ribeiro was simple yet chic while a halter one-piece accented with a plunging v-neckline and silver buckle could win over those who like to show less skin poolside while still turning heads.
As expected, cutouts and bandage-inspired buckled detailing played centerstage on body-conscious frocks. Most exciting was the addition of exotic skin which gave some designs a much-needed departure from the norm.
I have a strong suspicion that Kelly Rowland and Rita Ora will be sporting the collection’s gowns on a red carpet near you. A purple billowing number didn’t have the usual Cushnie et Ochs signature stamp, but it definitely whispered “movie premiere” in its royal purple shade on Chanel Iman.
What do you think of Cushnie et Ochs’ Spring 2014 offerings?
