• Ever wonder what wearing all those high heels is really doing to your feet? A new scanner at Britain’s Royal National Orthopedic Hospital NHS Trust gives us a look at exactly how a pair of sky-high pumps can change the shape of your feet over time. In the above clip, we see the lesser toes in a claw-like position, and strained bones in the big toe. As told by consultant orthopedic surgeon Andy Goldberg, “When you’re in heels your entire body weight is going through the two tiny little bones going under the big toe, which can clearly lead to problems.” Of course, the process of foot-deterioration is something that takes several years– something to think about for those ladies who are inclined to rock heels. In which case, we’ll be holding a prayer circle for Victoria Beckham‘s feet. (ABC News)
• Things aren’t going so well for Max Azria. The Wall Street Journal reports that the BCBG boss ‘s position at his company is tenuous thanks to mounting debts and a lackluster performance in recent years. Though BCBG enjoyed a wave of popularity, marketing missteps and too-rapid expansion (there are about 1,000 stores worldwide) have exhausted the brand, and now, it looks like Azria’s about to lose a fair amount of control over the company. “Mr. Azria said he didn’t recognize the danger when he was borrowing capital for various expansion efforts. ‘We have our agenda, but the finance people have their agenda,” he says. “I knew that, but I didn’t see it.’” (The Cut)
• Hipsters the world over were devastated to hear that their patron saint Solange Knowles was fleeing the gentrification juggernaut also known as Brooklyn. The singer/DJ/expert print-mixer is packing up and moving to “a cute yellow house in the Baywater area of New Orleans,” according to Page Six. It’s a three bed, three bath complete with a garden, fruit trees, and 2,649 square feet. Oh, and the price? $498,000. I imagine a spot that nice in NYC would be at least double that price! (Page Six)
•Fashion Week hopefuls, listen up! Bevy Smith is not here for your antics! The socialite took to Twitter to express exactly how she feels about the parched, flamboyantly-dressed loiterers outside of Lincoln Center looking for their big break in the industry, sometimes stealing first and second row seats from folks who actually need to be sitting there. The tweets are pretty hilarious, but also kind of informative– if you’re going to be at Lincoln Center, tone it down–and be about your business!
Keep it cute out there, guys! (Bevy Smith Twitter)
