• It’s starting to get hard to keep up with the rapid pace at which Nasty Gal is expanding. Last year, the brand added their own range of clothing to their wholesale offerings, and today, the e-tailer rolls out their footwear options, Shoe Cult. The 180-piece line stays true to Nasty Gal’s trend-conscious customer at an affordable price point: expect to shill out $68 to $188 for any of their styles, including everything from sensible flats to sky-high platforms. Co-founder, CEO, and CCO Sophia Amoruso says shoes were a natural pairing to their apparel line, which is proving to be quite lucrative for them. “The stuff we’re designing has better sell-through [than third-party designers], but we will always continue to carry other designers. This is just the sprinkling on top.” Nasty Gal will initially unveil the first 45 styles, with more to drop in September and October. But that’s not all for the e-tailer: An intimates and swimwear offering is in the works, and Nasty Gal is looking into the possiblity of brick and mortar locations. (WWD)

Toni Braxton was wearing fewer clothes than usual at a live performance this weekend. The back of her dress fell down in the middle of her set, causing Ms. Braxton to bare her Spanx-encased butt to a thankful audience. She didn’t seem to notice, until a fan rushed onstage to cover her up with a blazer. The dress continued to dangle in spite of efforts to patch it back up, so Braxton scrapped the sparkly number, and continued the show in nary but her Spanx and that oversized blazer. Can you blame her, though? Her body looks fab! I’d say this is more epic than that time a certain diva got her hair caught in a fan! (TMZ)

hal-rubenstein

• Hal Rubenstein, InStyle editor-at-large and decorated fashion writer, is making a foray into clothing design with an apparel and footwear collection in partnership with HSN. In Rubenstein’s words, the line consists of “clothes that will work in your life”– items that women can feel comfortable in, without sacrificing their personal style. The collection is set to launch next month, with price points ranging from $40 to $300. (WWD)

Fashionista‘s got a sneak peek at Marchesa‘s forthcoming contemporary line, Marchesa Voyage. The new range offers daywear options, a welcome departure from their usual fabulous gowns and red carpet pieces, priced between $260 and $1,000. “This is day clothing. It’s easy clothing,” co-founder Georgina Chapman told Fashionsita. “This is where it seemed to fit the best and this was the achievable price point we could get. So we were really excited by that. So you’re going to see a lot of detail, you’re going to see prints that we’ve done in our Marchesa studios. You have lace, you have embroidery. That our partners could achieve that at this price point, that’s really exciting to us.” Look out for the new line in stores September 1st. (Fashionista)

Maya Rudolph will sadly not be bringing her famous Donatella Versace impression to the upcoming made-for-TV biopic, House of Versace. Gina Gershon has instead been tapped to play the role of the label’s current director. You can catch the flick October 5th on Lifetime. (Vogue UK)

j-crew-september-catalogue

• The wait is over: J.Crew‘s September catalogue is here! But you don’t have to wait for it to appear in your mailbox to get a look at what the retailer’s cooked up for the season. For the first time ever, J.Crew has unveiled their catalogue on Pinterest, making it easy for tech-savvy fashionistas to decide whether they would prefer to pay their cable bill next month, or buy a gem-ebellished cashmere sweater instead. @MiManning You sound mad. Don’t ever in your life compare Toni Braxton to Rihanna. She is on a whole nother level. She is an entertainer. I see nothing wrong with her ensemble && her body looks damn good. She handled the situation perfectly.

  6. @jei I agree she can wear what she wants.Only women put limits on other women on what is age appropriate, men love a sexy female at any age who cares!!
