I am a designer currently in school working on my 2nd degree in Fashion Design. I would agree the celeb clothing lines are annoyning. I love LAMB and I will give credit to Gwen for creating and designing her line but the rest are blahhhhh. I hope to one day be a great designer like other designers that inspire me. I love designing and making clothes for women that make them feel and look good. Your clothing says a lot about who you are and can change your entire mood for the day.

In regards to the celebrity designers I don’t really see anything wrong with it. For instances if you have the respect and craft for it and devote considerable time to it, why not have it all? I.e. The Olsons, Nicole Richie, and Gwen Stefani. But these would be the exception and not the rule I suppose.

The same can be said for any entertainment industry, be it singing or acting. How many of these celebrity ‘singers’ can really sing? And some of these celebrity ‘actors’ and ‘actresses’ have they really gone to school to master the art? No. Some people are just famous with minimal talent. It is what it is.

even though i’ve worked in the fashion industry hosting fashion shows for and writing articles on celeb designers, i can say i agree with Stephen, especially since many celeb designers rarely if ever wear their own brand (hello, can you say Jessica Simpson?). however, there are a few celeb designers who deserve some credit for their brands and style like Gwen Stefani and Nicole Richie. they may not literally be holding the needle and thread (many “real” designers don’t) or sketching, but i truly believe they contribute to the design and wear their brands well.
