So all of our internship contestants were given a challenge to dream up outfits to wear to a fashionable brunch, encouraged by Ty, who wrote, “ I am celebrating my 25th birthday by treating my best gals to High Tea. I want to look classic yet bold and fashion forward. What should I wear?”
Intern 1 went for vibrant and zany, saying, “I really wanted to create a look inspired by Oscar de la Renta‘s Spring 2013 collection. It had a lot of lace, retro-inspired, and neon pieces so I wanted to create a look based on that concept.”

” I also fell in love with the Kate Spade New York radio clutch so I centered the color scheme of the look around that. It fits in perfectly with the retro vibe of the set and is definitely a conversation piece.”
Intern 2′s look skewed more ‘grown and sexy.’ She explained, “Meeting with girlfriends for high tea/brunch is on the schedule. While subtlety and making a statement is an oxymoron, you undoubtedly get a pass in this fascinating structured Roland Mouret Eugene draped cotton-pique top…the back is equally gorgeous! “

“The unique top needs no competition, so it pairs well with Donna Karan’s Stretch-linen jersey skirt which flaunts a becoming off-centered slit. Hob nob in Jackie O-inspired sunglasses, a wrist full of jewels and 3.1 Phillip Lim’s 31 Hour leather chic tote. Finish the look in Heshialy High-Heel Sandals and a dab of Chanel No. 5.”
Intern 3 rounded out the suggestions, writing, “A high fashion occasion is always a great opportunity to dress up and wear the hottest trends. I chose black with pops of color and baroque embellishment. When you wear baroque inspired pieces, make sure to keep the rest of the outfit simple.”

” The statement piece of this outfit is this embellished structured jacket from Alexander McQueen and I paired it with a simple A-line mini skirt from Victoria Beckham and a blouse with sheer sleeves. Wear a killer pair of shoes: My choice are these red Giuseppe Zanotti sandals, and accessorize with a gold box clutch, like this one from Kotur, a pair of small gold earrings and a gold cocktail ring (love this one from Repossi). Complete your look with a red lip and red nails and you are all set.”
Hmm..this is a tough one! Each look is refined, yet so different.
Which Intern’s look is more your style?

Love, love, LOVE look #2. Look #1 reflects the more fun, girly, and flirty me but #2 is the grown up/mature me!! Good job!!!!
March 20, 2013 11:28 am
#1 is so fun and screams spring!
March 20, 2013 11:29 am
I prefer look #1. The colors might be a bit too matchy-matchy, but I do like that it’s bold and fresh for spring. I also really love the purse, shoes, skirt, and accessories. I just wouldn’t wear it all at the same time.
March 20, 2013 11:32 am
#1 works for me, but because the colours on the outfit are already vibrant, I would probably tone down the accessories/makeup. Good job
March 20, 2013 11:33 am
Look # 1 is my fav for the particular occasion
March 20, 2013 11:38 am
I like Intern 1′s look. It’s right on trend for spring and I love that purse. It’s also very feminine. No 2 – looks too casual for someone’s birthday. I think the top is nice, but nothing about the outfit stands out to me for a bday girl. It’s spring also so it needs more color. No 3 – is not my idea of brunch/lunch or anything daytime really. I think it also needs more color, possibly pastels or neons.. It is more of a nighttime bday look IMO.
March 20, 2013 11:42 am
Beautiful looks. thumbs up!
March 20, 2013 11:43 am
Congrats all 3!!!! I love them all – truly. My vote is for number ….2!
March 20, 2013 11:45 am
So elegant classy and girly. I love it. Keep up the good work
March 20, 2013 11:47 am
They’re all very nice! I’d have to choose number 2 though!
March 20, 2013 11:50 am
Intern one gave me an idea for Easter! :)
March 20, 2013 11:51 am
Love those looks…
March 20, 2013 11:52 am
intern 2′s look would be fab for meeting your partner’s mom for the 1st time.
very chic & together. ;-)
March 20, 2013 11:55 am
intern 1 definitely has well put together looks but since this contest has started all of them have been way too matchy imo.
March 20, 2013 11:57 am
LOVE all 3!
March 20, 2013 11:58 am
these are all good looks but i think intern 1 nailed it! I like look 2 but it seems more like what i wear to the office than to a tea/birthday celebration
March 20, 2013 11:59 am
i like number 2 the best. number one is bit toooooo young girly. number 3 is a bit over the top
March 20, 2013 12:04 pm
I think all of the choices are lovely but I prefer choice 2 the best.
March 20, 2013 12:07 pm
I would say #2 is fit if you are in NY and celebrating this weekend or through fall . #1 is more appropriate for April-May
#3′s look is more appropriate for Dec-Jan month.
They all seem to have picked varying season, but the request was more for the immediate…Therefore, #1 is more birthday, spring time, chic.
March 20, 2013 12:10 pm
*1 & #2 seemed to get the price point correct for a 25 year old.
March 20, 2013 12:16 pm
I like #2. Maybe with some more colorful accessories.
March 20, 2013 12:16 pm
I loved the way she pulled of #1 springy colorful and not so dramatic.
March 20, 2013 12:19 pm
I like looks 1 and 2, but intern 1 has my heart!
March 20, 2013 12:22 pm
love look #2.
March 20, 2013 12:25 pm
My fav out of all in #1. I love the colors, accessories and style.
March 20, 2013 12:28 pm
Intern #1 hit the nail on the head. It is a matchy, but I still love it. I’ll be rocking this look. It’s perfect for spring time.
Intern #2 submission looks more work appropriate and for the fall.
Intern #3 submission is more for a night out or dressier event than high tea. I do love all the pieces though. It’s just a bit too dressy for me for high tea, but hey as the saying goes…IT’S MY PARTY AND I’LL WEAR WHAT I WANT TO!
March 20, 2013 12:29 pm
Look #2
March 20, 2013 12:29 pm
They all did good.
March 20, 2013 12:37 pm
Great looks! Intern 1′s look seems for someone under 25, whereas intern 2′s look is polished and a good way to take a young woman into another year. The colors aren’t typically springy, but it works. Intern 3 is very stylish, just not for high tea. Intern 2 has my vote.
March 20, 2013 12:41 pm
Love #2, then #1, then #3. Look #2 is giving me a pinch of fashion forward, but still realistic. Agree with most that #1 is a bit matchy and girly for me. The rhythm nation jacket in #3 is just not my cup of tea…..
March 20, 2013 12:42 pm
Outfit 3 is doing way too much for High tea. The jacket is screaming fashion event not high tea and the outfit itself is very heavy looking so summer Guissepe’s and i have those exact shoes would not go with this look.
March 20, 2013 12:44 pm
#2, yes. I’d just go with a springy shade for my bag.
March 20, 2013 12:58 pm
I like outfit #1 the best (sans makeup), but I do like intern #2′s taste & writing style.
March 20, 2013 1:07 pm
Look #2 is so event appropriate. Look #1 is just too girly with the bow, although I do love the colors. Look #3 is, as someone already stated, too clubish, night on the town. Not at all high tea. Which I’m guessing will be in the afternoon. What I would love to see is look #2 in look #3′s color scheme. That would give the birthday girl her classic yet bold look she wants.
March 20, 2013 1:18 pm
Number 3 missed the mark completely, I’m going to need her to google what high tea is.
March 20, 2013 1:20 pm
I love the colors in look #1 but the lace top and swing skirt is a little too teeny bopperish for my taste. I love look #2 but the colors are a little boring for spring, plus the requestor said she wanted something bold. Maybe jazz up look # with the colors from look #1? LOL.
March 20, 2013 1:23 pm
#1…luv dem shoes
March 20, 2013 1:59 pm
1-Nicki Minaj – Selena Gomez type
2. Victoria Beckham type
3. Kim Kardashian type
All girls have their respective places in fashion & pop culture. Great variations if you look at it this way.
March 20, 2013 2:01 pm
I like Look #2, although I’d probably incorporate some lilac stones into the look for a pop of color. Look #1 would be cute on a 25 y/o but is just not a very interesting outfit to me. Look #3 is definitely an evening look and I’d like to meet the 25 y/o that could pull that outfit off at anytime w/o looking like she’s playing dress up.
March 20, 2013 2:10 pm
Intern #1 got it best. Its a daytime event – so the use of bold spring colors is perfect.
Intern #2 looks more for work or after work drinks – its more sophisticated.
Intern #3 – this is an evening ensemble – not a daytime tea/brunch look. It’s cute but misses the occasion-specific mark.
March 20, 2013 2:14 pm
I like all the looks but I am going to go with #1 because it screams high tea. #2 is great but as someone said more for work/professional attire and #3 seems more night time event.
March 20, 2013 2:20 pm
# 1 did it for me. Very fun!
March 20, 2013 2:26 pm
#1 all the way.
March 20, 2013 2:28 pm
Look #1! Love bold colors!
March 20, 2013 2:38 pm
Love #1! The look is very spring appropriate
March 20, 2013 2:44 pm
#1 a lil too much blu on blue on blue for me
#2 was more clean and refreshing
#3 too hard and dark for brunch
March 20, 2013 2:55 pm
#1,very fun and girly.I love it
March 20, 2013 3:10 pm
#2! Can never go wrong with Clean & Classic!
March 20, 2013 3:42 pm
Out of all the looks, #3 is my favorite even though it’s a bit too much for brunch and I’ll never able to afford any of those pieces. I really liked the classy feel of #2 but I didn’t like the top. It just screamed choir robe… LMBO. I know others will not agree but it’s just not my thing. #1 is just too matchy for me. Anyhow, kudos to all three interns!!! Good luck!!!
March 20, 2013 4:28 pm
#1 I’m about to search for these pieces right now.
March 20, 2013 4:51 pm
#1
March 20, 2013 4:59 pm
Intern 3 must’ve thought Kanye was hosting the tea party with that all black, extra expensive everything. Intern 1 gets my vote.
March 20, 2013 5:25 pm
#1 is perfect for a spring high tea, 3 is way too dressy, more of an evening look and 2, while stylish looks like a work outfit
March 20, 2013 5:59 pm
I like 1 and 2, but 2 gets my vote. 3 is just extra
March 20, 2013 7:13 pm
Intern 1 has the best look.
March 20, 2013 7:37 pm
Intern 2 is on it! Great job!
March 20, 2013 7:39 pm
I’m all about color, color, and more color so I was automatically drawn to #1 but I really like the color scheme of #2 and it’s different for me, so #2!
March 20, 2013 10:44 pm
Intern 3? Is it you Kim K? Overdressed! LOL
#2 for this one.
#1 is too young girly
March 20, 2013 11:46 pm
Intern 1 gets my vote. That look is perfect for Spring time. It’s fun, flirty, & classy all wrapped into one.
March 21, 2013 1:18 am
#1! Bold and beautiful!
March 21, 2013 1:30 am
Intern 2 is most fashion forward and sophisticated here.
March 21, 2013 2:13 am
Love the colors from Intern #1, it’s prefect for high tea/brunch for the spring!!
March 21, 2013 8:21 am
#1 – Because she listened to what the requester wanted.
March 21, 2013 8:47 am
#2 for me it’s grown n sexy And those shades sealed the deal for me!
March 21, 2013 1:47 pm
1-Love the colours
2- Love the shape
3- That is alllllll kinds of sexy
March 21, 2013 4:56 pm
All great looks but look 1 does it for me
