So starting today, we’re accepting contestants to intern for our What to Wear section. Our inbox runneth over and we’re looking for a few stylish ladies to help us tackle your myriad and multiple outfit requests!
Tasia wrote, “I’m going to a fashion networking event, but don’t know what to wear! I want to stand out while looking chic. Also, I’m self conscious about my legs, so would prefer pants, please. Thanks!”
Intern Contestant 1 writes, “I am currently obsessed with blazers and loved the shape and look of this peplum design. “

“Pair it with a printed trouser (I like these by Sass & Bide–get ‘em here), a statement heel, and structured handbag to create a moment-making look.”
She continues, “A sequin sweatshirt can give you a touch of glam when paired with a pair of leather pants and a sexy metallic shoe.”

“I wanted to showcase the concept of a chic sweatshirt look so I went for a glitzy option mixed with a pair of dark coated jeans which to me gives the illusion of cool-kid decadence. ”

For her last look, she writes, “I chose this look because jogger pants are such a diverse trend right now, depending on how you dress them, they serve as the perfect combination of comfort and style.”

” I wanted this particular look to be more fashion forward so I added a blazer and a strappy sandal to create something fun and trendy. Add rhinestone earrings and bowler bag from Zara to complete.”
As Fabolous would say, Niiice. Your picks are a little pricey, but I would rock every one! And besides, these are meant to inspire, no?
What do you think of Intern 1′s submission?
Interns 2 and 3 will offer their Style Inspirations next week, stay tuned!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! to outfit #1 I never comment but I almost jumped out of my seat when I saw it. Then, I sat back down when I saw the price list. *shrugs*
March 15, 2013 1:56 pm
It’s weird but I can never see the outfit options.
March 15, 2013 2:05 pm
These are cute outfits but its a lot going on for a networking event. Even if it is fashion networking there needs to be a designer of business to the look. Not every look needs to be a fashion show. A simple blazer, shirt, jeans and nice heels goes a long way.

Intern no.1 has set a pretty impressive (high $ :D) bar! Even though the prices may seem a bit intimidating as a whole, if you can incorporate the smaller tangible elements (beauty/accessories) of the overall moodboard inspirations, and find similar budget friendly clothing/shoe selections that s/he has optioned then there is no doubt that the effect won’t be just as dope.

Claire you did it again that 3.1 Phillip Lim Sequined silk sweatshirt is amazing
March 15, 2013 2:15 pm
I love all of the looks. I must have missed the memo on the contest. When was it first announced?
March 15, 2013 2:21 pm
While I love outfits and understand drawing inspiration, I’m always confused as to why the selections are always priced out of (what I assume to be) the average readers price range. I’m also gonna assume that the readers who request the fashion advice aren’t looking for such an idea only to go and have to find cheaper pieces on their own which kinda defeats the purpose of the request to begin with. I could be wrong, and in which case there are some pretty fabulous readers walking the streets!

@sun.kissed I put out a low key call at the end of the Mrs. Carter Style Inspiration, and received so many submissions, I decided to launch a small contest.
@Teneice To make the collages we make, we have to pluck from stores that don’t display clothes on models. Which narrows our choices to stores with higher price points: StyleBop, Net-a-Porter, and the like. Topshop is the only ‘reasonably priced’ store that displays clothes in a way that we can use in the collages. Which is why prices are high and these are meant to give you ideas. In the future, I’ll tell the person who ultimately gets the position to offer options for less in the shopping widget.

1 and 2 are BADDDD!! I would certainly wear one to a social networking event. Its bold and business… However these will be used as inspiration for tonight! thanks girl!
March 15, 2013 2:43 pm
Alright now Intern 1. <3
March 15, 2013 2:49 pm
I love the last look! It’s much more style and within “budget”. Topshop always offers a range of clothes with reasonable price points with that said, **clicks to go to Topshop to order the joggers** but before I leave, Zara does have a couple of options on a shoe that will also complement the pants shown above.
March 15, 2013 2:50 pm
Cute options! Like all 3!
March 15, 2013 3:02 pm
I usually don’t comment but #1 & #3 are freaking awesome!! Intern #1 has def set a bar!!
March 15, 2013 3:06 pm
Yea you can pretty much end the search here lol
Pricey items but I don’t even care the looks are flawless imo. She did a really great job.
March 15, 2013 3:36 pm
Hi Claire, I appreciate the response :)
March 15, 2013 3:36 pm
Intern no. 1 will be hard to beat because option #1 has me on the hunt for black/white printed pants with an orange structured blazer! Yes ma’am!
March 15, 2013 4:11 pm
Outfit #1 is everything!
March 15, 2013 4:21 pm
Stealing outfit number 1 inspiration for this weekend…lol
March 15, 2013 4:51 pm
Great job loved all the choices!
March 15, 2013 4:56 pm
I am obsessed with all 3 looks!
March 15, 2013 4:57 pm
I really like these looks. Especially the accessory choices. Each option is unique and sylish.
March 15, 2013 5:04 pm
All of the choices seem to have too much going on in my opinion…though I would love the items as separates with more muted pieces to let each shine. I do also like the fact that Intern #1 is thinking ‘outside the box’ – the jogging pants idea in Option #3 is something I would’ve never considered. #RefreshingPerspective!
March 15, 2013 5:20 pm
@Claire…these ensembles are AMAZING!!!
Question tho: WHERE may I find that ACTUAL Chanel top??
I looked thru the Wildfox Couture tops..I’m not particularly feeling the “No. 9″ top as a replacement.
Thanks!
March 15, 2013 6:15 pm
Intern #1 has definitely set the bar high. Claire, I like seeing both the higher priced and budget friendly choices.
March 15, 2013 7:39 pm
Intern #1 did that. Your eye for pieces is phenomenal and the execution of your outfits is flawless. I also love that you completed the looks by adding eye, lip, and nail colors as those make or break a look.
March 15, 2013 9:29 pm
@Soso Get the “Chanel” top here:

March 15, 2013 10:29 pm
I love all 3 options! As a girl who isn’t very up on fashion, especially when it comes to accessories, I would absolutely rock all these looks. Intern 1 has an excellent fashion sense and you can tell she has a true love and passion for style.
March 15, 2013 11:48 pm
All of them are cute but Intern #1′s look is my fav! Love it!
March 16, 2013 12:23 am
excellent options. love looks 1 & 3.
March 16, 2013 10:18 pm
Good match ups overall, but imo a little too flashy for a networking event, polish (nailnerdondeck) is a bit to matchy matchy & prices a bit on the pricey side.
Look #2 with the flats are my fav ;)
March 17, 2013 9:23 pm
claire your picks are always pricey too!! lol…I thought “these posts are just for inspiration”..anyhoo…cute picks…
March 18, 2013 11:13 am
I’m loving all three outfits, inspired. I think it’s time for a trip to the mall.
March 18, 2013 10:58 pm
I think outfits 1 & 3 seem more appropriate for the occasion. Outfit 2 is still haute but I wouldn’t wear it to a network event. I also agree with the other readers that it’ll be nice too see expensive and not so expensive items mixed our at least ask the readers for a budget so you’ll know how to guide the choices… Just my two cent… can’t wait to see the other intern submissions.
March 20, 2013 12:27 pm
My favorite out of all is #1, well done.
March 21, 2013 3:03 am
I love fashion and all 3 looks are over the top. The prices are what it cost for a designer item. However, if I could not purchase all the items used, I can still copy the 3 looks and find similar items within my budget. I know I would stand out in the crowd and have my own unique look.
March 23, 2013 7:15 am
I vote for intern #3 because she had to deal with the hard task of creating fashionable sporty items and she did it brilliantly. Other contestants did a great job too anyway!
