Miguel has definitely taken a turn in the fashion department in the last year, wearing high-fashion looks effortlessly. Perhaps a combination of his style evolution and working with his stylist Jasmine Benjamin, the crooner has gravitated toward designers like Lanvin and Saint Laurent and documented his travel looks for a recent trip to South Africa for NYTimes.com:
Outfitting himself in pieces from Calvin Klein, Alexander Wang, Pierre Hardy, and more, Miguel breaks down his everyday ensembles for the trip — a format similar to those we see on fashion blogs. He expresses his love for Hedi Slimane, saying, “I’m a huge fan of Hedi Slimane’s photography. I want to meet this dude, and the fact that he’s running Saint Laurent, a Parisian brand, from Los Angeles makes it extra ill to me.”
Within the past year, Miguel has taken on a collaboration with t-shirt line Deer Dana and has covered The Fade magazine, giving the LA native some more credibility in the industry.
Miguel has definitely stepped up his style, allowing him to stand out from the crowd of trendy, Givenchy tee-wearing men. Though I’m not always on board with his every ensemble, I appreciate the change and think the fashion industry is definitely starting to take notice. If the NYTimes sees fit to mention you, you’re most likely doing something very right.
What do you think of Miguel’s style? Does he have what it takes to be fashion’s new “It” guy?

No. His style works for him and all, but every guy isn’t going to be running out to get something Miguel had on.

Miguel is just as gay as this dude is on here:

I feel sorry for black American men sometimes. If you have personal style, and do not conform to the stereotypical “thug” image you are branded gay, if you say baggy pants and sneakers, you are branded a gangsta smh they can’t win with y’all.
Miguel’s style is not my cup of tea, but I applaud him for staying true to himself. Young black boys need this diversity in the media.

If A$AP Rocky is an industry darling [which I don't get? Who is his publicist? Can he or she get a feature because they are HUSTLIN' for dude] I don’t see why Miguel cannot be one as well.

Totally agree with you Lola. Sad. Nobody can do anything right besides the person typing. Let’s not put people down every chance we get.
March 11, 2013 1:23 pm
@ Lola… I agree with you 100%.
Why can’t black men have personal style that is different and unconventional without being called gay. I applaud diversity!

Yes He Is It!!!!
March 11, 2013 1:38 pm
Lola said it well! Yes Yes Yes!
March 11, 2013 1:39 pm
it’s one thing to have dialogue about things but when people start calling people They don’t know Gay that person talking or typing that stuff comes across as ignorant.
March 11, 2013 1:45 pm
I agree with Lola! What people say about you is a reflection of them, not you. He’s gay because he dresses better than you?! Okay. I appreciate Miguel’s style. Idk about you but I love a man that can actually dress.

Personal style is fine his style is a no majority of the time.
The gay slur hmmm…lets stick to fashion please
March 11, 2013 2:19 pm
Personal style is fine..his style is a no most of the time
Lets stick to fashion and leave the slurs out
March 11, 2013 2:31 pm
@Lola I agree with your statement 100%. Sometimes I see men wearing tight fitted clothing and I think to myself I rather see that than their fruit of looms underwear as their pants sag to their knees. I think Miguel has a style that not everyone will like but it is different and suits his personality well.

Not my cup of tea.
March 11, 2013 3:42 pm
He looks great. Sharp, hip, individual.
March 11, 2013 4:11 pm
Love his style. Very grown man. But like others have stated, its a double standard with MOC… if they were fitted clothes, people judge their sexualty. Nevertheles I think he looks great
March 11, 2013 4:30 pm
I just can’t date a guy who wears tighter pants than I do. However I can see some guys liking his style.
March 11, 2013 5:02 pm
You guys are wrong.
People just don’t look at a man wearing fitting clothes and assume he’s gay. There are OTHER things about that man that make people suspicious. Many male bombshells featured here, the men of Street Etiquette, rapper Common etc wear fitting clothes and no one suggests that they are gay because they still are able to maintain that element of masculinity. Men who wear fitting clothes and get the ‘gay” label that happen because they have NOT mastered the ART of form fitting but still masculine male dressing or they have others attributes which make people think they are gay (hair, nails, body language, personality)

i love Miguel’s style!
I agree with Lola. & Actually Miguel isn’t gay; the girl in the yellow is the woman he’s been dating for 7 years now. You can check his Instagram and see their pictures.
March 11, 2013 5:56 pm
@Blu ivy …..your are going to hell for that link! As long as he doesn’t start wearing heels and MAC, I’m good.
March 11, 2013 7:13 pm
People should cut it out with the gay comments because last time I check gay men also dress as gangsters too and you wouldn’t even know it.
March 11, 2013 11:18 pm
Even if Miguel was gay, I don’t think he could possibly be as gay as the guy in the link, Blue, you’re wrong for that.
And I don’t personally feel that calling a man gay (wrt his fashion) is a slur, maybe irrelevant, but not an insult. I don’t think he was going for ultra-masculine with that look anyway.

His style is hot…fits his personality. James Brown wore similar fitted suits….anybody wanna try to call him gay? Hm didn’t think so…..
