Martin Grant is in the business of making classic designs, and his Fall 2013 collection is right in line with his signature aesthetic: well-tailored, timeless pieces that build the foundation for a modern-day woman’s wardrobe. From the perfect leather-trim LBD to ball-ready voluminous full skirts, his latest offerings for the season are effortlessly chic.
Outerwear opens the collection in a navy collarless tweed style, fit for Audrey Hepburn in her heyday. The rest of the coat and jacket selections are just as elegant and sophisticated: structured capes, contrast lapel pieces closed by just a single button, metallic houndstooth numbers, the perfect black fur topper, and so much more.
Prints are kept neutral including the aforementioned metallic houndstooth pattern on a menswear-inspired suit and a couple of office-appropriate dresses, as well as a black and white crosshatching print, uplifting a simple frock and billowing-sleeve blouse.
Ruffles add a very feminine and flirty flair to the designs on a collarless coat, refined dresses, and one sheer blouse that is about as edgy as the looks get.
There isn’t much in the realm of red carpet-ready wear, but a few dresses can make an impact for a movie premiere or cocktail party. I would love to see Zoe Saldana in the collection’s strapless leather-trim dress: a killer ensemble with a sleek chignon, red lips, and a pair of leather pumps.
What do you think of Martin Grant’s latest collection?

Uggh. The one store that supposedly carries the collection in Canada had no idea who this was: “Mark….Grand?” No  Very nice, classic tailoring. Hope I can snag a piece or two if they’re in my price range.
