Riccardo Tisci’s Spring 2013 collection for Givenchy was the epitome of restrained elegance with its focus on mostly black, blue, and white tones, uplifted by simple organza ruffles. For Fall 2013, he returns to the Tisci we’re more familiar with. The collection bursts forth with prints and more graphic tops and sweatshirts than any girl around the way could want. His latest creations are seeming amalagamations of his past work: paisley patterns are in abundance, infused with flames, and his famous graphic tops come equipped with a new cast of characters. Thankfully (and fittingly), he also offers something new, namely florals and plaids remixed in a way only Tisci could.

Replacing the Rottweiler is a Bambi like deer, who, face cut off, seems to peer into a mirror.
Tisci also goes back to his consistent heroine Virgin Mary, emblazoning her face onto sweatshirts emboldened by flames.
For the more restrained Givenchy customer, the house provides several timeless black pieces, along with new striped snakeskin booties in an assortment of colors.
And for those yearning for the new ‘must have’ print or piece, Tisci delivers saucy sheer pencil skirts, gypsy inspired patchwork bomber jackets, fire red paisleys, rose adorned leather jackets, and plaid button downs.
Let’s be honest: taken as a whole, some looks can seem jumbled and downright alarming. An old school swimming cap paired with a shaggy fur and paisley dress doesn’t particularly scream chic at first glance.
Once filtered down for the masses, however, this collection is sure to be yet another retail hit. Those who want to splurge can enjoy the all black ensembles or go for more adventurous in paisley or floral printed separates. Brand fans who cling more to the tees will undoubtedly buy a Bambi or Virgin Mary sweatshirt come next fall.
Tisci has managed to stay true to the historic austerity of Givenchy while speaking to contemporary fashion lovers who have a bit of street swagger. I have no doubt Givenchy fans Rihanna, Lala Anthony, and Kim Kardashian will be rocking more than one piece in the upcoming months (before they hit stores, natch).

I can definitely see it being a hit with the celebrity set. Loving the toggle jacket especially, and the burgundy boots.

I’m not the biggest fan of the Fall 2013 collection but I can see the greatness of some of the pieces. I’ll give 8 out if 10 to Tisci.

Interesting cuts, conceptual prints and palette. Moving away from what has been known as Givenchy and re-inventing it’self.
