So I’ve received a surprising amount of e-mails asking how to style white pumps!
What was deemed ‘tacky’ a ‘bad look’ and ‘only for church’ a mere 9 months ago, is now fashionable, thanks to style stars like Kim Kardashian and Solange Knowles giving the accessory their cosign.
Brittny writes, “I have been itching to try the white shoe trend, but I am having trouble on how to style it. Should I wear jeans, dress, or even pair it with a white bag?”
Allie adds, “I know last year around Spring 2012, you did a fashion post about how to rock white shoes with a few celebrities. Is it possible you can give an updated version of it to accommodate the spring trends for this year? A what to wear with white pumps 2013?”
Sure! Basically you wear them the same way you would at any time. White, like black or nude, is a neutral color that can go with just about everything. Wear them as the exclamation point to a colorful or patterned look. Jeans, a dress…whatever you like. Have fun with it!
To answer Brittny’s question, you do not necessarily have to wear a white purse. A colorful handbag that goes with your ensemble would work as well (and might work better!).
If you feel like playing it safe , of course a white purse would coordinate, as Karolina Kurkova and Jennifer Lopez display.

I remember the post from last year and everybody including myself was against the white pumps. Seeing how these ladies styled them is encouraging. They make them look very chic and fashion forward. I am now a believer lol. Thanks Claire!

Ive been itchin to try this trend too! Love this post…it looks like the key to it not lookin “tacky” is for the white shoe to be really sleek and not clunky like a platform

Death to white shoes! Yeah, I’ am still anti this trend, only a handful of ocassion white shoes actually look good but for the most part they still cheapen an outfit to me.

I’ve always liked and wore pumps even though I was told yrs ago that its a fashion faux-pas. Thank I only adhere to my own rules. That suit Karolina is wearing is exquisite.
