• Beyoncé Knowles-Carter (her words) has joined Salma Hayek Pinault and Frida Gianni to launch a new female empowerment initiative for Gucci, Chime For Change. The aim is to “raise funds and awareness in support of projects for girls and women around the world, through sharing ‘powerful stories’ about inspiring females.”
Beyoncé spoke on joining the cause, “I have always felt strongly about equal opportunity for women. Girls have to be taught from early on that they are strong and capable of being anything they want to be. It’s up to us to change the statistics for women around the world. I’m honored to be in the company of women who live fearlessly and set an example for the next generation of young ladies.” Also on the Chime For Change advisory board, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Francois-Henri Pinault. Mrs.Knowles-Carter is definitely in good company. (Vogue UK)
• Jeremy Scott has kept quiet since he was accused of plaigirizing the goulish artwork for his Fall 2013 collection,. If you remember, several bloggers and skateboard enthusiasts called into question the originality of Scott’s monster designs from the collection, saying the designer basically copied the aesthetic of iconic skateboard graphic design duo, Jim and Jimbo Phillips, of Santa Cruz Skateboards. Not only has the latter Phillips expressed through his Facebook page his surprise to see the designs (“this is crazy,” he captioned the now-infamous photo of his work next to Scott’s).
But Robert A. Denike, CEO of Santa Cruz Skateboards, released a statement saying the use of these graphics were certainly not approved by the company, or the Phillips’. “This is not a collaboration or under license, nor did we or the Phillips family approve the use of this artwork on his apparel designs in any way,” he wrote. “It’s obvious to us, the Phillips family, the fans of Jim Phillips Sr. and Jimbo Phillips, and fans of the brand Santa Cruz Skateboards, as well as many in the global skateboard and skate art community that there is clear and obvious infringement by Mr. Scott. We are discussing this with our legal team to determine our next steps.” It’s strange that Scott would remain silent on the issue– almost seems like an admission of guilt. What do you think? • Nicki Minaj wants you to know that she’s never had plastic surgery… On her face. Any apparent change in her visage is simply due to an impeccable makeup job. So stop speculating, guys! (Necole Bitchie)
• While A$AP Rocky may not have any plans on jumping into the fashion game, it appears another stylish man has hopes of doing just that. In an interview with Charlie Rose, Carmelo Anthony was asked if he had any desire to start his own clothing line, to which he responded, “I would love to, I love things that are outside the box.” Can’t knock the hustle! Would you buy clothing from Mr. Anthony? (Complex Style)
• Are face masks really becoming a thing? We all remember Kanye West rocking his crystal embellished Margiela mask, and the red ski mask he wore to the Margiela show, but ‘Ye isn’t the only one wearing the face-obscuring accessory. 2 Chainz was recently spotted going incognito at one of his performances in what looks like Chanel. On a recent shopping trip, Justin Bieber took things a step further, opting for a gas mask. Other participants in the growing fad include A$AP Rocky and French Montana. If they like it, then I guess. But I can say my nephew requested one for his birthday, and I let him know not to get his hopes up. What do you think of the budding trend? (Complex Style)
• Elle Varner ditched her signature curls for a cropped ‘do. Hot! or Hmm… (Glamazons Blog)
• The world can continue its blissful love affair with Jennifer Lawrence , who, has yet again admitted to her imperfections. Remember her stunning Dior ads? Well, as it turns out it was the handiwork of photoshop (no real shocker there). Upon seeing the final product for the first time during an interview with Access Hollywood, her reaction was as follows, “Oh my god, I haven’t seen this. That doesn’t look like me at all. I love Photoshop more than anything in the world. Of course it’s Photoshop, people don’t look like that.” I must admit, I really do enjoy her candor. (Fashionista)

Lol @ D I thought she did?
February 28, 2013 1:16 pm
@ Debbie, she did.
It’s truly sad and pathetic how far with untrue lies some grown black women will go to try and tear Beyoncé down.

I love the fresh faced pictures of Beyonce. Do not like Elle’s new look.

The face mask trend is as stupid as the men wearing kilts/skirts. I don’t like the way Elle’s hair is styled but I think short hair could be cute on her.

I love Elle Varner and I’m glad it’s just a wig!

A black man running around in a face mask….Yeah, good idea.
If Carmello wants to get in the fashion game he should start at home.

Beyonce is teaching lessons. She is teaching young girls about exotic skinned leather high cut bathing suits and how to pop that pelvis when wearing one!

I do not think that faces covered by a mask will have a future in fashion.
A shawl can enchant but a balaclava gives me the feeling of robber.
Do not makes me feel more beautiful cover my face.
