Frida Giannini skewed dark for Gucci’s Fall 2013 collection with a color palette of moody burgundies, blacks, olives, and teals. The showing was uplifted, then, by sumptuous python skin textures, feathered embroidery, and re-imagined houndstooth print, all of which offered visual stimulation in the midst of the foray’s gothic penchants.
Feathers cast in red , blue, and green hues played on straight fit shift dresses, or were etched on the sides of conservative bombers paired with pencil skirts.
The true standouts of the collection were undoubtedly the textures, particularly slick black python skin spied on peplum blazers and pencil skirts. Worn together or separately, they’re sure to make a statement.
For evening wear, stretch mesh was the call, along with beading and colored plumes.
I can certainly see Alicia Keys sidling up to the leather looks, and Beyonce or Kerry Washington being styled in one of the sheer mesh gowns.
What do you think of the collection?
