• Rihanna‘s media blitz seamlessly continues with word of yet another major magazine cover. Yesterday, the singer Instagrammed a teaser photo from her upcoming spread with British ELLE .
She is pictured rocking the black pixie cut she’s since ditched for a saucier, half-shaved redux of her “Girl Like Me” ‘do. (@badgalriri)
• After an outpouring of public concern, newly-appointed T Magazine editor Deborah Needleman announced plans to beef up the presence of racial diversity in the publication. Several readers expressed disappointment over the marked lack of faces of color in this most recent issue. When New York Times editor Margaret Sullivan reached out to Needleman for comment, the editrix admitted she too noticed the issue’s lack of diversity: “It was something I noticed and regretted as we were putting the issue together. We are a global magazine and so would like the content, subjects and geography of stories to reflect that,” Needleman said. ”In coming issues, we cover the people and places of Seoul, São Paulo, Kenya, Bollywood actors, Nigeria, etc. A majority of fashion models are still unfortunately mostly white, but it is our aim to celebrate quality and beauty in all its diverse forms. We can and will aim to do better, but our goal is first and foremost to deliver the best stories we find, and it is my belief that quality and good journalism appeal to all of us regardless of our specific ethnic origins.” Hmm…what do you think? • For the dutty wine-nostalgic girls who love a peep show: Azealia Banks brings you the music video for her ‘Harlem Shake’ remix. Wow. (VEVO)
• Dion Lee is the latest designer to try their hand at costume design. The Australian designer has been tapped by the Sydney Dance Company to create costumes for a new show called ‘Emergence. The ‘fits sound pretty spectacular. According to WWD, Lee’s designs “[deploy] sport fabrications such as a heavy black neoprene-look bonded jersey in a series of sculptural bodysuits and shorts with reflective 3M rubber prints; and a sheer sport mesh, used in voluminous, asymmetric baby doll tunics with black contrast banding. He also managed to inject his signature deconstructed tailoring via some intriguing bifurcated tuxedos that are attached to nude unitards.” (WWD)
• Louis Vuitton has collaborated with ‘street’ artists Aiko, Retna, and Os Gemeos to create new iterations of their famous giant silk scarf, stole, and the regular silk scarves. Check the video above. Are you feeling it? (Fashion Bomb Inbox)
