WWD reports today that M.A.C. has tapped Rihanna as “creative partner,” for RiRi Hearts MAC., four limited edition color collections set to launch throughout 2013. This is the first time the cosmetics brand has teamed with a celebrity on a long-term collaborative effort.
Each collection will be built around the capsule’s signature lip color, ‘RiRi Woo,’ a play on the brand’s iconic ‘Ruby Woo’ shade. ‘RiRi Woo’ will launch first, online and at Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds Tour’ performances at Barclays Center on the 4th and 5th of May. The remaining three color collections will follow, with a summer range to be sold online, as well as fall and holiday collections which will be available in stores.
John Demsey, Group President of Estée Lauder Cos. Inc, assures us that Rihanna played an actual role in product development, stressing that Riri Hearts MAC “is a true, organic collaboration based on mutual admiration and respect.”
Rihanna herself is happy to confirm such reports: “I really got to play. There’s so much to choose from, and you can mix different textures with different colors and different greens in different eye shadows. I learned so much about the detail of makeup and what makes things look different. What makes it apply different is really important. Every little detail is important.” Sounds exciting! I warrant this collab is poised to be better received than her River Island offerings, yes?

This is amazing. I am so proud to be a fan of Rihanna. She’s come such a long way, and every year gets bigger and does even more incredible things. Say what you want about her, baby girl stays winning. There’s no one hotter in the game right now.
And I have no doubt that these makeup collections are going to be HOT. I can’t wait to see more.

I think the makeup line would do great. I’m excitied I’ll be buying the lipsticks for sure..River Island I’ll proably buy 1 or 2 pieces at the most.

@ Jhess- Reading is fundamental,especially when you are trying to shade someone. This is the first “long-term collaborative effort”. Previous collabos were short term (Nicki Minaj, Azaelia Banks, Lady GaGa,etc..) and she will release several items over a period of time

Haven’t been to Mac for about a minute, so I will be checking out her collection. I think this is a perfect collaboration for both parties because Rihanna out of a handful of celebrities actually plays around with her look so this seems like a natural fit.
