@smav its late but got to point out a few facts i am from zimbabwe so i know what i am taking about. I am well travelled myself too. In fact was just in zim/ S.A this January. Yes people in the southern parts of Africa where head wraps as a symbol of humility to funerals, church not as a fashion statement the way its done in the east or west Africa. The head wraps and the scarves chitenges are not as colorful as the ones in East or west Africa because they were not meant as a fashion piece but to cover your self up. When i mentioned Colonialism is a fact and its part of our history to explain why some African country seem more westernized than most. If you are going to be honest especially from malawi if you are a young girl do you wear african prints going on a date or you rock your jeans and tees. If u tell me otherwise u are lying especially from the Southern africa. When i went back to zim, S.A i have noticed that people are going back to the african print because its fashionable right now but that has never been so traditionally. So before u spew ignorance about not african enough, you really need to visit South Africa. Go to Joburg or soweto or even visit zimbabwe. By the way mental colonialsm still exist ;Read your books girl. U you have been in the States for too long and now trying to put everybody in a box the way hollywood wants you too.
