• ’90s model Kiara Kabukuru is making a comeback, after almost a decade of being markedly off the fashion scene. Kabukuru was one of the ’90s’s most sought after models, and was in the midst of a successful run with Cover Girl when she was hit by an 18-wheeler in NYC back in 2000. The model suffered devastating injuries to her body (the accident removed the skin from her back and arms), as well as her face, causing her to need extensive reconstructive surgery in the subsequent years. Kabukuru opens up to her friend Gisele Bundchen about the event, as well as her childhood in this issue of C.R. Fashionbook. • Nicholas Kirkwood unveiled his limited edition collaboration with Selfridges‘s to celebrate the release of Oz The Great and Powerful this weekend. The four-piece range features a black bootie, strappy sandal, and glitter silver pump embellished with Kirkwood’s signature ruffle, along with a men’s brogue. • Here are the Marc Jacobs-designed Diet Coke can, unveiled to celebrate the brand’s 30th anniversary. Each set of cans features a trend in women’s fashion from the past three decades, re-imagined by the inimitable designer. The Jacobs-emblazoned bottles and cans will hit 11 European countries next month. (WWD)
• Vogue UK Editor-in-Chief Alexandra Shulman spilled the tea on Miss Vogue, the UK’s answer to Teen Vogue. The glossy is still in the works, said the editrix, but the mag will be more beauty-focused and aimed at a slightly older audience than the stateside title. “Teen Vogue has very American sensibilities,” she told The Cut “— we’ll be a little more eclectic and not so teen, maybe a little older than that. The idea is that it’s the same kind of mix as the mother magazine, but targeted at a younger reader, with products more within their budget.” Sounds right up our alley, girls! (The Cut)
• The Missoni Family released a statement to clarify reports on luggage from the missing executive’s aircraft. The family confirmed that two of Vittorio Missoni ‘s bags have been found. The bags, labeled with the names of Mr. Missoni and life partner Maria Castiglioni were located in close proximity to one another. Both bags were found unzipped and “mostly empty.” The Missonis reassured the public that they are still on the hunt for Vittorio, stressing, “the case [of the missing executive] is not closed.” The families also pleaded with the media, that while they appreciate the outpouring of concern, to use “the utmost caution in the diffusion of unverified news,” as they are in a “difficult and greatly uncertain situation.” Authorities are still searching for Mr. Missoni and his travel companions, who have been missing since January 4th. • Jessica Simpson is taking her experience as a new mother and turning it into cold hard coin. The designer and retail mogul is adding an infant footwear range to her children’s line, set to debut this fall. Prices for the shoes range from $30 to $35 and , according to WWD, feature “such feminine looks as pink cheetah-print cowboy booties and satin Mary Jane shoes trimmed with bows and flower ornaments.” Cute!
