• If you were expecting Alexander Wang‘s debut at Balenciaga during Paris Fashion Week to be a huge production, think again. As the famed house told WWD, the show will be held in a “salon-style,” “intimate atmosphere.” That means a more streamlined guest list come Feb 28th. As of now, there is still no word on possible venues for Wang’s premiere. (WWD)
• New child-rearing expert Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is launching a parenting-focused online publication “Mercy Merci” this March. But don’t you dare call it a blog. “It’s not a blog,” she insists. “I don’t like the word blog so much. It’s really an online publication, like Style.com for young and expecting moms and dads, and established moms and dads as well. It’s glamorous and artistic.” Moms, will you be reading? (The Cut)
• One of the bags from Vittorio Missoni’s luggage has turned up. The bag was found on Bonaire island, just a few miles away from Curacao. This is one of the few developments in this case since the Missoni CEO’s plane went missing on January 4th. (Vogue UK)
• Juicy Couture Chief Creative Officer LeAnn Nealz is ending her tenure after just over two years at the label. The designer will leave her post on March 1st, and a successor has yet to be named. Watch this space for updates! (Vogue UK)
• The front page of yesterday’s New York Post featured an image of John Galliano dressed in his usual long coat and hat, but somehow the folks at the Post construed the disgraced designer’s attire as “mocking” Hasidic Jews. Galliano’s rep was quick to clarify his look with WWD: “As you well know, John has worn big hats and long coats for many, many years. He indeed has long curly hair, and I can understand people/the NY Post misinterpreting his look at the show. But I can assure you there was no intent to dress in a Hasidic style, to present himself as an homage to the Hasidic community or to insult the Jewish culture or pay tribute to people in 17th century Poland on John’s part — consciously or unconsciously. His attire included a Steven Jones hat, Yohji Yamamoto trousers, Brooks Brothers shirt, Dolce & Gabbana vest. In other words — fashionable. The last thing on John’s mind would be to do anything that would offend the Jewish community.” (WWD/The Daily Beast)

That must be so sad for the Missoni family…smh..John Galliano just won’t quit! Like, what is wrong with him??
February 14, 2013 2:35 pm
Can they leave John alone. Enough is enough, this man cannot catch a break. Can we learn to forgive and forget instead of constantly bringing up other people’s mistakes. Unfortunately, that says a lot about the society we live in. Hope he makes a comeback.

Vittorio still hasn’t been found???! Prayers are being sent all the way up for the Missoni Family.
I am too excited to see what Alexander Wang has in store for Balenciaga.
Is it me or has Juicy Couture fallen all the way off the last few years?..

The New York post is obviously not well versed in fashion, nor did they do their research to see that Galliano dresses like that all the time! That’d be like saying Karl Lagerfeld is mocking butlers, failing to realize that’s his normal wears….

Comment of the rep… That indeed DOES say a lot about society or at least US society today.

Clearly, John Galliano wasn’t being anti-Semitic. Leave it to the New York Post to stir shit up.
