• The Metropolitan Museum of Art had a preview for its upcoming Costume Institute exhibit, Punk: Chaos to Couture yesterday. The mini-show featured punk-inspired garments from designers like Vivienne Westwood and Chanel. In attendance was none other than Riccardo Tisci, who made some potentially juicy remarks. When asked what he might be wearing to this year’s Met Gala, the designer quipped, “For sure, I am not going to wear a kilt.” Really? Anything but a kilt? Didn’t a dear famous friend of Mr. Tisci’s just catch a little flack for wearing one of the kilts he designed at a major relief concert event? And didn’t said celebrity attempt to strong-arm a certain photo database into removing all photos of him wearing the very same kilt? Curious that Riccardo would publicly decide against wearing such a garment… (WWD)
• Eva Mendes has teamed with New York and Co. for yet another much-needed celebrity-backed design collaboration. In addition to being the new face of the brand, Mendes will also release a collection with the label, Eva by Eva Mendes. New York & Co. CEO Greg Scott is appropriately psyched for the collab with the smokin’ hot Mendes, saying: “She has amazing red carpet style and also has a very unique style off the red carpet. She has a real sense of self, which will help us in terms of the design aesthetic. When we look at her, she really is confident.” Hard not to be when you look like Eva Mendes. The actress herself is putting her all into the project, saying: ” [It] is taking up all my time, but in the best way possible. Everything I see is a possible design. My mind is consumed by it. I’m fortunate enough to travel to so many exotic places. I could find inspiration in a gate in Istanbul for a plate or a blouse.” (WWD)

• I can’t even get my mom to make a dress for my birthday, meanwhile fictional rodent Minnie Mouse will be outfitted in the finest of designer garments to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Disneyland in Paris.
