Why reinvent yourself when you’re essentially the best at what you do? There aren’t many better at creating the perfect silk draped dress than Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra and they stick to that and their signature, feminine and fluid aesthetic for Costello Tagliapietra’s Fall 2013 collection. With a smattering of trousers, knits, and a couple of coats for good measure (it is Autumn afterall), the design duo continues to make sexy, yet effortless ready-to-wear for the modern day woman who loves flaunting her shape in tailored silhouettes.
There are only two outerwear options on display, but those shown are formidable: a cozy, chocolate shawl-collar coat with roomy pockets to keep your hands warm and a zip-front collared cape in the same shade that gives a touch of ’70s chic. Clearly, the brand is implying that you should buy both and be all set for the season.
Knits are of the handmade persuasion: long sleeve v-neck sweaters in cropped lengths worn alone or paired over button-front blouses, scarves elegantly draped over the models’ shoulders, and the season’s must-have chunky cardigan. Colorblocking comes around again in Fall hues of chocolate, grape, salmon, mahogany, and more. The collection’s draped silhouettes and mixed textures only make the shades even more eye-catching, showing that the Costello Tagliapietra woman has no qualms about being noticed for the season.
Prints really make their mark and skew springtime fresh in painterly and abstract patterns.
There is absolutely no shortage of dresses in the collection and I think that fans like Kerry Washington and Corinne Bailey Rae will find a few pieces to sport on the red carpet with flawless beauty looks and accessories.
