BCBG Max Azria is usually one of the first shows to kick of NYFW, and if their offerings for Fall 2013 are any indication, it’s shaping up to be a pretty dope season!
For fall, the designer eschewed the customary structured, sleek-and-chic look the season inspires, instead opting for easy-breezy silhouettes and sportier shapes. The designer winterized flowy pieces by layering several looks with textured knits, flouncing furs, and slick leathers.
The color palette was decidedly moody, but Max Azria brought a splash of joy to his looks with ornate geometric print. Laser cutout patterns updated leather pieces, and chiffon and lace detailing added a welcome dash of sex appeal to the collection.
While the accessories generally consisted of your usual fall weather fare, ( knit hats, structured leather bags, and the like), the standout pieces definitely had to be those leather leg warmers, which I wager we might see on a few noted stylistas come fall.
All in all, it was an interesting showing from the label. BCBG usually goes the ultrafeminine route, so it was cool to see them go a little sportier this season. Solange Knowles would wear any of these prints well, and I can imagine we might see Teyana Taylor rocking those leg warmers!
