It looks like Betty Adewole might be the model of Fall 2013 New York Fashion Week! The beauty poses in looks for Skaist-Taylor’s latest collection donning a curly wig. Design duo Gela Nash-Taylor and Pamela Skaist-Levy present functional designs for the season that touch on a number of trends that we have already witnessed from Pre-Fall 2013 offerings: military-inspired getups, Fall’s signature knits, loads of leather, and rocker chic creations. There doesn’t seem to be a cohesive theme from look to look, but it’s clear that the focus is on wearability and wardrobe-building: perfect for loyal fans of the burgeoning brand and those looking to try on the label’s pieces for size for the first time.
The military inspiration is felt right out of the gate with skirt and short suits that serve as the modern-day woman’s uniform. Over-the-knee buckle and python-detailed boots with pointed-toe silhouettes add a luxurious flair as do two-tone harlequin checker sashes that might act as scarves in real-time when the collection actually hits stores.
Leather makes an appearance on a chic cape, shorts, and functional skinny pants, all in black. The edgy material isn’t going anywhere ladies so make sure you keep your current wares around for Fall 2013!
There aren’t a ton of coats shown, but it’s pretty obvious that Skaist and Taylor expect you to have a fur collar on whichever style you do choose to sport for the season. In eye-catching shades of blue and mahogany, the designs are irresistible.
Bohemian chic maxi dresses have a moment in lurex, cherry red silk, and a butterfly kaleidoscope print.
The brand is slowly becoming a celeb favorite and I am sure that fans like Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian will find more than a few dresses in the collection to work on the red carpet or for TV appearances.
Thoughts on Skaist-Taylor’s latest collection?
