Lover is a go-to brand among some of our favorite stylish stars including Kim Kardashian, LaLa Anthony, and others, and the label’s Fall 2013 collection is a study in what design duo Nic Briand and Susien Chong do best: body-conscious silhouettes, lace, a meticulous attention to detail, and designs that ooze sex appeal and femininity. They title their latest offerings “Nocturnal”, taking inspiration from Tony’s Scott’s 1983 film, The Hunger. Though sweeter and much more delicate than the eerie movie, the dark influence can be felt in leather and the piece’s eye-catching hues from cherry red to cobalt.
The brand is known for its sultry use of lace and the fabric plays everywhere from curve-clinging dresses fit for the red carpet to high-low skirts that mix quite well with the season’s must-have chunky knits.
Black leather is on display on modest, retro-inspired dresses, crop tops, leg-baring shorts, and more. The material is given a feminine spin with eyelet latticework, showing that it can be so much more than just edgy.
The collection’s standout pieces are those that go against Fall’s dark color palette in vibrant hues from powder blue to fiery red. My favorite look uses the former shade in a short sleeve flare dress with a sheer overlay and a cobalt underpinning that will surely land some Hollywood starlet on the Best Dressed list.
