Show Review: Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2013

Louis Vuitton is still very much into ’60s fashion. While the fashion house’s Spring 2013 collection was light and airy, the Pre-Fall 2013 collection is decidedly darker and much stronger. Inspired by the 1968 French revenge film The Bride Wore Black, the designs have a highly seductive quality: far from the cutesy, coquettish vibe of the brand’s last offerings. Lace, leather, and fur are in abundance, adding some flair and luxury to the creations’ functional silhouettes.

Lace covers everything: sometimes the actual fabric is at play and at other times it is mimicked with intricate prints. It is even juxtaposed against velvet and leather on a dainty bolero that has the power to uplift even the most basic ensemble.

Let’s face it: sometimes even the most savvy of fashionistas just doesn’t know what to wear. Styling isn’t always easy– thankfully the team at LV makes it easy for us with the most adorable skirt and short sets. When paired with fun tights and bow-detailed footwear, how can one go wrong?

Fur anyone? Shaggy sleeves, a velvet-collared style with bow detailing, buckle-secured vests: you will definitely be cozy should you decide to invest in a fur piece from the brand for the season. Leather is on display as well in a strong-shouldered yet feminine jacket and loads of boots which are sure to get some wear from our favorite stars.

Each season, I always look forward to seeing the new ways in which the  brand uses the Louis Vuitton monogram logo and it is everywhere here: two-tone satchels which might give the Speedy some retail competition this year, hooded wool coats, and even a denim dress and cropped boyfriend jeans.

Any looks catch your eye?
