Fashion Bombshell of the Day
Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Biko from Kenya
By Claire

Since we’ve been doing 2nd timers all week, I figured we’d keep the party going with Biko from Kenya:
FBDO-012413- Biko from Kenya

The blogger for LamuTamu.com writes, “According to the insights on my computer, I was not surprised to discover that The Fashion Bomb Daily is the blog that I visit the most.”

“… I especially love looking at the Bombshell and Bomber features to see how the citizens of the world uniquely interpret style, translating it and making it a statement of their own. It’s like we are all members of one human family united by fashion.”

” It is even more refreshing when I see the plus size sisters turning it out, it signifies a bold confidence and defiance to a society that dictates we conform to a uniform idealized standard of beauty.”

03 biko from kenya
“As for me and my fashion choices, I am a fan of having what I call dress rehearsals.”

04 biko from kenya
” This means planning my outfit days in advance and building and tearing it up with accessories as the day to wear it draws nearer, I am inspired by cinema and fantasy.”

00 biko from kenya
” Maybe that’s why my looks don’t translate well to street wear but, I just wear what is in my closet with no regard to what anybody may think.”

03 biko from kenya
” Nothing is too over the top because, I am a fashion dreamer and I make those dreams come true using my closet… like every dream, there are nightmares but ultimately, they are my own.”

07 biko from kenya
“Keep on dreaming because, until people begin to alter their lifestyles to make you comfortable, you should not consider altering yours to make them comfortable.”

Hot! You’re gorgeous. I’m loving your gowns and luxurious accessories. See Biko’s first feature here.

  1. vana says:

im not seeing any real fashion im just seeing a whole bunch of thrift store color purple items thrown togethor… i can see where she going with it in a way……………………………………………..

  2. Kitty B. says:

The same problems I had with Biko last time she was featured are the same problems I’m having with her now.

    -Bad weave
    -no everyday wear
    -too all over the place

  3. Tammy says:

THeir is no way this girl go outside with those kind of outfit. She must be doing this for a photoshoot

  4. Tee says:

    I’m…just…so..confused…

  5. I dont know… but I love her energy!

  6. Sarah says:

Here here Kitty B…. I SOO agree with you…
So when I look at the submits I rarely bash, because it takes guts to submit to this blog, but it bugs me to no end when I see african girls with these weaves!!! I wish you could wear you hair natural I think your so beautiful minus the hair and the clothes are pics, 2, 4, 4 & 6 are beautiful!!!!

  7. Tawanda C. says:

    ummm…well…..but….nevermind.

  8. lmonroedivine says:

    I can’t really tell what’s going on.

  9. J. Nicole says:

This may very well be her “every day” wear. My father wore suits every day; never jeans & sneakers (or dungarees & tennis shoes as he called it). None of us are with her 24/7 to know what is considered casual to her.

I like the energy of it all if nothing else.

  10. Problem ? says:

He didn’t look good the last time and he looks worse this time. FAIL!

And stop playing in ya mama closet and with her cosmetics. Clearly whatever it is you are trying to do is not working for you.

  11. KBS says:

    ^^^^ HARSH

  12. Empress says:

    @Problem? HE? Lmao

Not a fan. Hot mess IMO.

  13. Prettigyrl78 says:

    harpo…who dis woman?

  14. lola says:

I did feedback/criticism should be based on the bombshell’s aesthetic. No shade but I’m not a fan of his outfits. They are giving me more drag and less fashion, no shade. However, the bombshell said she is inspired by “cinema and fantasy.” Judging her looks based on the cinematic and fantasy aesthetic, I think she ABSOLUTELY nailed it. It might not be my cup of tea but she rocks the aesthetic she’s going for, so kudos sis. Keep doing you.

  15. LMBAO says:

LOL @ MiMi. I thought it was a Shim too *shrugs* as for the energy I give that a 10, but fashion a -10.

  16. lola says:

    *I think feedback/criticism

  17. Oohhhh lawd..that is all:)

  18. Siyam says:

    It’s …a lot.

  19. Mellie-Rae says:

I think her first submission was better

  20. Obi 1 says:

I personally prefer her first entry with fashionbomb. I enjoy her outlook of her style. She embraces her liking of gowns. I think if she had the opportunity to wear theatrical wigs and couture dresses she would. This is not my style but I appreciate someone who is true to themself.

  21. Fefe210 says:

Well….she said that her style does not translate well to street wear so I get that. Although none of her looks are anything that I would rock and her style is definitely “costumey”, she did represent her idea of dramatic. So kudos for being yourself Biko

  22. Annoyingly Right says:

Wait. Why does everyone keep saying “He…” Is this a man?

I liked the yellow African ensemble…

  23. Kitty B. says:

@Annoyingly Right and LMBAO, “he’s” transgender

  24. JLynn says:

I was going to say she would make an awesome drag queen…. But….

  25. Very dramatic, I liked the first submission better.

  26. Julie Newmar says:

Noxema Jenkins? Is that you, girl?

  27. JLynn says:

I do like the first feature more!

  28. resopym7@verizon.net says:

Are there guidelines for this? Confused

  29. Anna says:

He has not evolved at all. He is still all over the place, very diva-ish, very extra, the same terrible weaves/wigs but no real style, nothing to really emulate, be inspired by or enjoy. Just the “Biko Show”….again.
I still appreciate his “joie de vivre” and his life philosophy.

  30. cheriemacherie says:

not for the average person Biko looks dramatic.. suits him/her as a transformed person.. Bless his/her mother Thank God she loves her son soo much..

  31. nikki says:

hahahaha….lmao at Noxema Jenkins…i can not…yes that is a man!

  32. cheriemacherie says:

ps i know her family n heard of Biko..m only commenting to support her submission since i loove fashionbomb daily and look forward to bombshell/bombers submissions..

  33. Omgeezy!! says:

Y’all are some nasty ignorant women!! Talk about harsh!! It’s always the ppl who are ugly on the inside and out talking crap!! Stop calling her a he!! It’s just rude!! Get cho life Biko is Everything! I’m a stylist and I know women who serve like this daily. It’s called being Faboulous! I wear real fur often minus the gowns because I’m a working mother . It’s always low self-esteem soccer moms who roll their eyes at me and wisper “where is she going”!! Jelousy will get you nowhere! Have a great day!;)

  34. Taneica says:

I enjoyed HER first submission and applaud her for coming back for a second dose. Julie Newmar….lol…stop it. And for the rest of you ladies who are throwing “hims” out there, don’t be ugly. It’s 2013. Let’s be about some new shit this year, please?

  35. fashionablyuntamed says:

not understanding why his submissions were entertained a first time let alone a 2nd time…….all i see is wesley snipes in too wong fu !¡ maybe acting is his calling ???

  36. LawyerLady says:

    Love the positive attitude.

  37. Pari says:

Some of you people are just plain mean. You can comment on your dislike for her style without being mean and nasty about it.

  38. Liz says:

I have a feeling that Claire will be turning off the ability to post comments on this soon and very soon…

  39. B says:

I liked the pics in a very Carrie/Paris Sort of way!!!! Fashion is Fashion and just because the outfit can’t be found on a bigcartel site or Macy’s doesn’t mean it is not fashion!!! S/O to BIKO UR FAB!!!

  40. Lex says:

    the spirit wins the post

  41. Jank says:

*blank stare* Neeexxxttttt!!!! This is a NO!

  42. Liz says:

Wait…can someone clarify this he/she thing…I wouldn’t have guessed that Biko was a man, and if yawl are saying that based on the way she looks… you all are going to hell in a handbasket. I may be in the minority but I love the drama and use of color… horrible hair and makeup…. gorgeous skin.

  43. ” Nothing is too over the top because, I am a fashion dreamer and I make those dreams come true using my closet… like every dream, there are nightmares but ultimately, they are my own.”- this quote was too cute:(

  44. uh yea says:

“Keep on dreaming because, until people begin to alter their lifestyles to make you comfortable, you should not consider altering yours to make them comfortable.”

  45. Not feeling this look at all. Its a bit too much for me.

  46. Staci E. says:

    I will forever love Biko!

  47. Elle says:

You can tell that this woman is not a man. Her style is not for me, but she does has some cute looks. The white cupcake dress is cute and the red fur has some promise to it. I will agree that hair can make or break an outfit. Whatever you wear (weave, relaxer, natural), just do what looks best for you.

  48. KandiSTYLE says:

For once, I love the description!
