• As if she wasn’t busy enough, Nina Garcia‘s added another project to her already-full schedule, as the host of a new web series called “Decoding Style.” The show is like your standard makeover show, in which the Marie Claire Fashion Director helps women achieve their full sartorial potential–except more awesome because freaking Nina Garcia‘s telling them what to wear. Check out the first episode on HuffPost Style, HuffPost Women, Stylelist, or AOL On Network’s Style channel. (The Cut)
• It seems Raf Simons has his hand in a lot of projects these days! The Dior creative director is set to design the costumes for Sigourney Weaver and Isabelle Huppert in the upcoming film Body Art. (Vogue UK)
• Style star Solange Knowles is hard at work promoting her album True. The singer/DJ/all-round cool chick stopped by Le Grand Journal for a performance of the album’s breakout hit, ‘Losing You.’ If her outfit looks familiar, it’s because we covered it here. And yes, we still think she looks great! (Global Grind)
• If you wanted to buy the ‘Lady Day’ coat Malia Obama wore during Monday’s inauguration ceremony, you’d better act fast. Jenna Lyons, creative director of J.Crew, revealed on the Today Show that while the coat has been part of the label’s offerings for several seasons, Malia’s particular colorway will be retired “out of respect for the first family.” People and their darn principles! (Racked)
• Coach is set to launch a ready-to-wear collection! As you know, the brand has previously focused on their luxury handbag collection; however, due to an ever evolving marketplace, they’re aiming to remain competitive. “The reality is that the marketplace has shifted. We’re responding transformationally to take advantage of the opportunity. It’s not as if we’re static.” said chairman and chief executive officer Lew Frankfort. Reed Krakoff, who serves as the brand’s executive creative director also added in a statement, “Instead of designing accessories to fill a need, we’re thinking more about the woman, who she is, where she goes, what is her life like and how does it feel, to move Coach from…where you think of a Coach bag, to now when you think of Coach, you will think of a woman or a man and you think of their lifestyle.” How enthused are you about this news? Love Solange and her album. Sasha and Malia coats are cute but is it really necessary to retire them.
