Roberto Cavalli sticks to what he does best for Pre-Fall 2013: eye-catching prints, rock and roll edge, and high-octane sexiness. From fiery baroque-inspired prints visibly setting the designs ablaze to the most elegant gowns, the collection is a pure demonstration of what keeps women coming back to the fashion house season after season.
I don’t think anyone has ever accused Roberto Cavalli of “pulling back” in a collection and he knocks us all off of our feet with luxury right out of the gate with loads of fur. Shaggy kidassia jackets, printed pants which mimic the texture so expertly that even an animal would be tricked, furry sandals: PETA won’t be too happy with the offerings but those who like to stay cozy for Winter surely will.
Cavalli is one of the industry’s true print masters and here he piles on the patterns from python to a blazing baroque print.
The brand has been doing ’70s chic suits for sometime now. For Pre-Fall, tweed, python print, velvet, and baroque patterns are all included in the options. My favorite look is a black lace suit with flared pants that shows skin in a sexy, yet very elegant way: I hope Jada Pinkett-Smith or Solange Knowles tries this ensemble this year as both have the figure and confidence to pull it off.
Let’s talk about red carpet wear shall we? I can already hear “It” girls and celebrities the world over clamoring for the collection’s form-fitting printed mini dresses and showstopping gowns. Remember how popular the fashion house’s mixed animal print frocks were last year? Well, get ready for a surge in Cavalli wearers in 2013 due to these sexy styles.
Any looks catch your eye?
