• Noted fashion photographer Nigel Barker told DuJour magazine that once he joined the cast of America’s Next Top Model, unprecedented shade was thrown in his direction from the powers-that-be in the fashion industry. “When I was approached about Top Model, my career was on a real upward spiral—I had just done a bunch of great editorials and was getting calls from the likes of Jil Sander and Versace,” he said. “It crossed my mind that if I joined the show, it could be considered selling out. I knew there was going to be an element of risk and an element of exposure. And for a while there, it was tough. A lot of people wouldn’t go near me. The Vogues and various people – they wouldn’t touch me. They wouldn’t even look at my book.” But Barker says that with the growing popularity of fashion reality shows like ANTM and Project Runway, things have changed: “All of a sudden we had André Leon Talley, the editor-at-large of American Vogue on the Top Model panel. It’s a different time right now… the more exposure you get and the more the general public knows you, the better.” (DuJour)
• Details about the pilot flying Vittorio Missoni‘s missing plane are getting sketchier by the minute. Not only was the pilot overdue for a psychological and physical exam (his fitness certificate had expired November 30th,) but Transaéreo 5074, the company that owned the plane, didn’t even have a license to operate as an airline! Transéro 5074′s president, Asdrubal Bermudez, assured everyone that the plane was indeed up to snuff on safety requirements, in spite of a lack of proper documentation. (WWD)
• eBay seller sugart*t-2 got a lot of attention for this photo of her mustard-hued ASOS frock– and not because she put a cute dress up for grabs. The young lady snapped a photo of her sartorial wares to post with the listing, but she didn’t realize she was also posting a photo of her physical wares. It seems the lady forgot to wear pants– and to cut the reflection of her exposed ladybits out of the picture! eBay moderators took the photo down, but that didn’t stop the pantsless bandit– she posted another photo sans bloomers, this time with a longer pullover to cover her shame. The dress, once listed for ƒ15.99, has racked up a whopping ƒ153,000 in bids! Hmm… I wonder if this was her plan all along? What do you think? (Daily Mail)
• Sick of that dry skin feeling you get after schlepping around in jeans all day? Wrangler‘s got you covered. The denim brand announced plans to release a range of Denim Spa jeans infused with oils and butters to moisturize your skin while you wear ‘em. The line consists of three types of denim: Smooth Legs (which battles cellulite), Aloe Vera, and Olive Extract. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to slip into a pair of these! Look for Denim Spa jeans on ASOS come January 28th. (Vogue UK)

Lol at the eBay chick. That’s hilarious. Gimme a break with the ‘spa jeans’. Unless they can massage my back and give me a facial you can keep them. Otherwisw I’ll keep using lotion like regular folk.

so wait… can you WASH the spa jeans? Wouldn’t that be washing the “spa” part out and then they’re regular jeans?? Am I the only one kinda blown?

Bravo for Nigel even though I feel all those Runway, Top, Your Model, etc. have a shelf life. The eBay scandal – seems innocent but good for her! Spa Jeans sound like a yeast infection waiting to happen. Will they be dry clean only or soak in olive oil? #flatline

What I don’t understand is why the bids of the ebay dress went so high…Just because she showed her snatch?! Maybe more people should do that to drive up bids.
