Next up on the Pre-Fall 2013 scene is Valentino with their bountiful collection for the season. Citing famed photographers Guy Bourdin and Helmut Newton as inspirations, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli create an expert study in contrasts: ladylike silhouettes gone edgy with patent leather, animal print reimagined in more subtle shades, lace paired with athletic-inspired puffer coats, and so much more.
Patent leather has a moment on structured outerwear and flirty full skirt minidresses, nipped in at the waist. Consider yourself safe from the rain with these designs.
Animal print and croc give a taste of the exotic to the brand’s classic Rockstud bags, pencil skirts, capes, and more. A biker jacket in the texture might win the heart of the Kardashian sisters, as both Kim and Kourtney have worn the simple leather version from the brand on so many occasions.
The exotics do not stop there. Grazia Chiuri and Piccioli up the luxury quotient with an endless supply of fur-covered outerwear from dainty white ponchos to a larger-than-life multicolor style that looked as if it was picked straight from the wilderness.
Naturally, a Valentino collection is nothing without stunning evening wear and these offerings hold more than any Hollywood starlet’s heart can desire. Ethereal floral gowns, an embellished halter jumpsuit, flirty lace and leather dresses: fans like Mariah Carey, Khloe Kardashian, and Jessica Alba have loads of looks to choose from here.

There are some exceptional pieces. The fur coats are exquisite. That maroon pink color that is used seals the deal. There is so much texture, colour and shapes, it does feel a bit disjointed and i am not a fan of the stoic and at times matrony styling that is going on here.

I’m with Tid bits. Some pieces are mindblowing. I don’t love the boots though. The ankle and heel are … weird.
