Alexander Wang is gearing up for his debut at Balenciaga, but still churning out collections for his own lines: no easy feat. His T label has come a long way from its inception: at first just a line of t-shirts and basics and now more of its own entity. On display for the brand’s latest designs for Pre-Fall 2013 are loads of leather, minimalist silhouettes, and menswear-inspired tailoring.
The color palette ranges from Fall-perfect black and burgundy to powder blue and blush pink, capturing the perfect shades for the season’s transitional weeks. So much of the collection really is about ease, with relaxed silhouettes including silk button-front camisoles and blouses paired with mini skirts, shorts, skinny trousers, and even layered under a modern woman’s must-have: a black suit.
Ease gives way to much more structured looks, playing with Pre-Fall’s popular suiting trend.
For those of you loving leather right now, don’t fret: the texture has a major moment in most of the collections for the season. Wang mixes it with suede on crop tops and mini dresses. His head-to-toe leather looks are sure to be a hit with the fashion set.
For the Hollywood starlets who love the brand (think Rihanna, LaLa Anthony, and Azealia Banks), there are more than enough red carpet-ready dresses. My favorite is a simple LBD with long slightly dolman sleeves and a plunging v-neckline: perfect with super-straight hair and killer shoes.
Any looks catch your eye?

In love with the color story and the monochromatic looks.
He’s definitely evolved and can’t wait to see what he does for Balenciaga.
