• I guess once you get too hot, you’ve gotta leave the people wanting more! Givenchy announced yesterday that the label will not show a collection during couture fashion week next month. WWD says, “Givenchy and Tisci have been moving toward a more personalized approach to couture in recent years,” which would help explain this otherwise surprising (and disappointing) news! I suppose this means we’ll just have to wait for the next red carpet event to see the label’s couture offerings this season! (WWD)
• Emily Current and Merritt Elliott founders of Current/Elliott the brand, have announced their resignation from the label. While the pair have yet to give a reason for their departure, they assure us that they will continue to bless the world with their design talent: “We are so proud of what we have accomplished with Current/Elliott,” they said. “Parting ways has been a difficult decision, but we are thrilled for our next chapter in design and to perpetuate our whimsical Americana aesthetic across multiple categories.” It might be safe to expect a slew of design collaborations from the duo. Who knows? Leaving their brand might prove to be quite lucrative and rewarding for them. Just check Carine Roitfeld‘s credentials! While we’re sad to see ‘em go, we wish Emily and Merritt the best of luck! (WWD)
• Notice something weird about this WalMart Beauty Scoop catalogue? Like, how it actually looks like a real live magazine? Well, that’s because the retailer tapped Condé Nast to not only contribute editorial content (!) to the shopper, but WWD reports that the publisher produced the whole thing. But you wouldn’t know it, since “Except for its brands, the words Condé Nast do not appear anywhere in BeautyScoop.” While some might count this all shade, WWD chalks it up to WalMart being “reluctant to discuss its marketing tactics.” Potato, potato. (WWD)
• If Dolce & Gabbana‘s holiday video doesn’t give you a case of stoner giggles, I don’t know what will. (Dolce&Gabbana YouTube)
• Hollywood Reporter says Anna Wintour is indeed entertaining the possibility of becoming a US ambassador to France. According to The Reporter‘s sources, phantom “political insiders” say the editrix “might be open to becoming ambassador to France are accurate.” Hmm… I’d like to know who these “insiders” are! What do you think, Bombers? Is this real tea, or just some hot water with Tang crystals? (Hollywood Reporter)
• See Kim Kardashian, Brandy, Jurnee Smollett, and more in this trailer for Tyler Perry’s Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor. Think you’ll be checking it out? (Necole Bitchie)

Oooh, Temptation looks good! But I have to say this:
When I first heard that Perry casted Kim, I thought it was the ultimate sellout. He claimed that she would draw audiences but here’s the thing:
Kim’s fans are not going to go see a black movie where she has a minor role. Perry’s fans will now probably not want to see the movie because even after protest, Perry still casted her.
Kim cannot act. For her to be in this movie with the likes of Lance Gross and Jurnee Smollet is an embarrassment and makes the whole movie seem like a joke. It’s hard for me to take any movie seriously when it casts an ‘actor’ who cannot act solely because of their name.
Boo to that.

More power to everyone in Tyler’s new movie, I’m convinced…and sad face about Givenchy but no doubt we will see more from them on the red carpet in a month than on the runway combined next month!!

Kim looks beautiful but clearly those acting lessons did absolutely nothing. Glad to see the gorgeous Jurnee in a leading role.
December 21, 2012 3:33 pm
The telling part about Tyler casting Kim is that her name in the credits came before Vanessa Williams who is an actual actor! SMDH Nah I’ll wait for REDBOX
December 21, 2012 3:34 pm
Ok wait! LOL for some reason that just made me laugh that he would put her name in the credits like that! TYLER LOSES!
December 21, 2012 4:06 pm

December 21, 2012 5:44 pm
Im REALLY confused as to why you people keep giving Kim Kardashian so much LIIIIFFE. There are actually REAL ACTORS and ACTRESSES in this movie yet….Kim gets the shine. I don’t get it. smh #PopCulture

That trailer for Temptation is everything!
December 21, 2012 6:28 pm
Really Tyler? You just couldn’t find a better ACTRESS? Ok…
This is the right move for Givenchy. I’v been shaking my head at the foolishness that has gone on with the brand all year. It’s time to pull back and refocus.
Oh Dolce and Gabbana. I just hope they get their coins together… Happy Holidays anyway. #shade #payyourtaxes

I am actually pleasantly surprised by the previews. Look like it may be a good movie! I originally thought it was going to be a Tyler Perry comedy. And I am glad to see Jurnee back on the big screen as well. Very good actress. And Lance Gross looks like he’s doing his thing as well! And no shade to Kim. You gotta start somewhere.

Can’t wait to see the movie! Jurnee Smolett is looking good, glad to see her in a more adult role.
