• Vogue UK catches up with Roc Nation artist Rita Ora about her journey to stardom, and what’s next for her in the future. The songstress dished on her hopes to one day add to the already-oversaturated ‘celebrity clohing line’ market. But (before you panic), don’t expect it anytime soon: “…If I were to do that, I would literally just do a clothing line, I wouldn’t do an album,” she said. “I would concentrate. Maybe after about seven albums or something…I would do everything, from the stitching to the catwalk. I wouldn’t want to do an average fashion line. • Men’s surf attire Saturdays Surf NYC, is suing Kate Spade‘s lifestyle brand ‘Saturday,’ claiming the name confuses consumers and dilutes their brand. Last month, Saturdays Surf’s legal team requested that Kate Spade rename the still-developing label, while, channeling their inner high school mean girl, fans of the surf style company accused Kate Spade of copyright infringement via Facebook. Spade’s people were none too pleased: “We explained our complete good faith in the selection of the name, described the Kate Spade Saturday concept to them and why consumers will not be confused… We are disappointed that, instead of responding to us directly, Saturdays Surf NYC has chosen to escalate this dispute via social media and other avenues, and we were left with no other option but our current action to set the record straight.” The folks at Kate Spade may have a case. They say they applied (and were approved) for the Saturday trademark back in 2010. Saturdays Surf didn’t even apply for their trademark until the next year. At any rate, Kate Spade Saturday plans to move forward in 2013, opening a store in Tokyo come March, and e-commece sites in the US, Brazil, and Japan. What do you think? Saturdays Surf doesnm’t have the right to a name they applied for after Kate did. If anything, Kate Spade should be suing them. Ok? ( in my Funky Dineva voice.)
